The Rebel TIE

By Sir Orrin, in X-Wing

I'm salty as hell we get nothing but ties but rebels can get our ships it's BS.

the new shuttle can't take TIE/mk2 :P

Bit Sabine's TIE can!

Really though, I did want REALLY want the Upsilon in the game, but this condition thing is weird to add randomly.

it's not random (been in IA since forever, at least)

it's just a way to keep track of more complex abilities

The two that we can see could have just been handled more cleanly with Card Text instead of a new ruleset. I play Imperial Assault myself and I love the condition system. Works great in that game. But they existed from the ground up, are mechanically simple, and have simple names like "Stunned." This "I'll Show You the Dark Side" could have just been on Kylo's card and said something like "When you deal a critical damage, search the damage deck for a Pilot card and deal it to the enemy ship. Then shuffle the damage deck. " Or something. Just seems really shoehorned after 50 expansions.

But hey, I'm actually thrilled that the Upsilon and Quadjumper made it into the game. And you're totally right about Unkar. Suddenly the best blocker in the game. He's like the good version of the Chopper pilot card. It's amazing.

eh...to nitpick that's not how his condition works

see, "you" refers to the ship the upgrade/pilot is on

ren's condition is universal, so any crit damage suffered during an attack will set it off. It doesn't have to come from Ren or the ship Ren's crew is on

plus you need somewhere to hold the crit card you want so it doesn't get dealt as a facedown damage before you can assign it yourself

the text simply would not fit on a pilot or upgrade card without teeny tiny font

Anyone considering new squad ideas with the Rebel TIE's ??

Could you run 4 (all named pilots) and possibly the ghost, or if not the ghost the attack shuttle?

So it could look like this

TIE - Sabrine

TIE - Ashoka

TIE - Rex

TIE - Zeb

and then either

Ghost - Hera or Attack Shuttle (Hera)

Well, while I agree that giving the Rebels any old TIE would've been odd, this is a very specific TIE. It's not like your going to mistake it for a standard TIE. Plus, it had a pretty big role in one of the Rebel's plans, so....

Everything you've just said could have been done without diluting faction identity and releasing a ship that's been released countless times already.

Honestly? I'm surprised we haven't seen some stolen Imperial ships in the Rebel faction earlier. This is surprisingly harmless.

I'd be on your side if they introduced any of the rebel pilots (Wedge?) in interceptors.

Agreed. Between the "Fly Casual" motto on the forums and the aptly named podcasts featuring a certain Lambda, I'm also surprised FFG hasn't trolled us with a Rebel Lambda Shuttle.

Pilot Han PS 8, "You may deploy your shuttle behind your opponent in his deployment area"

- "It's an older code, sir, but it checks out. I was about to let them through..."

That would be awesome. I like the deployment idea, too. Sounds like a new Condition Card: Fly casual. . .until it's time to NOT fly casual.

It looks like one of the new tech upgrades does something to deployment- maybe it lets you deploy at PS12 or something like that?

So the Empire cannot receive any small ship that isn't a TIE because apparently that would dilute their identity, but they will freely hand out a TIE to the damned rebel terrorists?!?

Let's just say that as an Imperial player, the last several waves have been garbage. The only good expansion we've gotten has been Imperial Vets.

I think the TLDR of what you said here is: "Get off my lawn!"

I'm looking at something like this, assuming Zeb is 13 points.

I like it so two TIE's and a fully loaded Ghost. The interesting thing now that TIE's are available is how to put them in a list and what to surround them with.

I was thinking a 2 TIE, Attack Shuttle/Ghost combo

No, it's just the one TIE. Sabine is in the Phantom.

I was happy with Wave 8, wave 9 is growing on me. I even think The Upsilon Shuttle will be cool.

but my favortie ship, the TIE fighter, IS NOW A REBEL SHIP!!!!!!

This cannot be happening.

SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!

the Rainbow Dash Tie.

Only if you fly it with kanan dash

Might as well; Sabine could block and annoy the out of aces

Hansolo go! I choose you!

What's next? Decimator EX Mega Evolutions?

Hey how about formations! That worked so well for GW, why not try it with X-Wing?

X-Wing Spacehammer Annihilation Spaceforce Formation: You may deploy your ships anywhere beyond Range 1 of an enemy, even outside your deployment zone. When your X-Wings disembark from their drop pods, er uh tantives, you may move and shoot in the same turn.

Yaay! Rebels get more stuff from their TV show... guys we need a better TV show for this kind of thing.

Or Condition: Fly Casual, but don't make it LOOK like you're trying to Fly Casual.

Make the title so long they have to put it on a second card insert, really watch people's blood pressure start rising

I don't watch the show, but is yellow a big color scheme on Rebels?

It's kind of the signature style of Sabin Wren who is an street artist with explosives and spray cans. Which is often literally the same has she has orange and yellow explosive paintbombs and iirc some explosive paints as well. So yeah, kind of big.

I'm kinda happy to see rebels getting a TIE fighter.

Finally they will get a taste on what's losing one ship to a single shot.

never had a Z get direct hit, eh?

What you mean with direct hit? 5 dice from that stupid VCX have killed plenty of 4 Zs :D

well that too :P

but I'm talking range 3 focused Zs riding the short bus to hell after a 3-die primary looks at em funny

Ok, I just noticed when a ship has color (other than grey scale) from Rebels, it is always yellow.

Odd but true. Wonder if it's intentional.

Most likely. As someone mentioned somewhere else: If you give a Lambda the Sabine Wren color scheme then fans of the series will instantly will recognize it as another masterpiece. Sabine's Sentinel confirmed? ;-)
