Is the Ghost Expansion worth it to buy a second?

I am trying to complete my Completist requirements of a second of all the large ships (except my want to get a full set of Aggressors, Full array of FS-31 paint jobs and a third JMK5). I have still to get the Decimator and the Ghost...

I also feel that I will buy only one of the Sabine's Masterpiece. All the cards in the expansion are uniques and thematically I see only fielding one.

The Ghost

The reasons to get it:

It does have a generic pilot and therefore doesn't break a thematic issue for me.

*Thermal Detonators - Quadjumper now comes with one. This was the number one reason I wanted it.

*Reinforced Deflectors - Brings it to 2 - Is this one worth the purchase?

*Dorsal Turrets - Brings it to 4

Conner Net - Brings it to five

The reasons I don't need it.

I have all the other cards and since they are unique don't need another and will not field anything that will break the thematic rules of two ships and crew and Pilots separated between them.

Cluster Mines - Have 6 already

Another difficult ship to store with my current storage solution.

Do the reasons to get it out weigh the cost and the reasons I don't need it? Or is this more of a take it or leave it kind of situation?

I've got two and I actually regret the second purchase, even at a discount

I got two and have no regrets, but the second was at a discount and I'm a double Lothal addict.

If quadjumper is coming with thermal detonators unless you are a big rebels fan I say no. I have one and no intention of buying a second.

I regret that I had to get the first purchase in order to have a complete set.

I don't see that it was anything more than a novelty item.

I own two.

It gives you two attack shuttles as well... can be fun.

Double Lothal with ABT, FCS, Chopper Crew on one, Hera Crew on the other with a Gold Squadron that has ABT and R4-D6 is the Rebel's answer to the meta.

No one uses it because not many people want to get a second Ghost. Also, because Rebel players have been so used to sucking on the teat of Turretwing and Regen, that they are incapable of flying anything that isn't some Lego Duplo Poe/Corran/Fat Turret/Second Fat Turret list.

Hate U-Boats all you want, during wave 7 I showed up to a 12-14~ player event, half of which were Rebel players. And they all had identical regen Poe Damerons in their list. When people say, "U-Boats got rid of all the Palp Ace counters like regen and the stresshog", they're wrong. Regen was just the rebel version of Palp Aces, invincible NPE cheese. Glad it's no longer played, good riddance. One of the most frustrating things in this game is tailing some invincible ******* with the remainder of your squad for 30 minutes as he just runs away and out damage mitigates you.

Also, you can get Ghosts with no upgrade cards for $20~ on Ebay.

I bought one, and I regret it, not to mention two. It took about 3 weeks of it sitting on the shelf for me to get around to unboxing it, after which it went into foam and was never seen again.

I am thinking about getting a second, put purely because double lothal should be a strong list right now. Might as well just loan the second one for events.

You could always paint one with a Sabine Special paint job. :lol:

Is it worth the money? eh... the fact your seriously considering it means you have it to spend so yes. If money was tight no.

The Ghost is one of the few expansions I don't actually own, and the only non-Imperial (the others being Imperial Aces, VT-49 Decimator, Imperial Raider, Inquisitor's TIE, TIE/fo and the TIE Punisher).

That list looks set to increase dramatically over the next two waves.

Lothal with ABT does send aces packing.

Double lothal is not as strong as let on. I've lost a lothal turn 3 before it gets to shoot twice several times.

I think the docking mechanics being restricted to a unique title does put some heavy limitations on a 2nd VCX. Keep in mind that the attack shuttle has the same hit points as a Z-95 Headhunter and goes down rather fast. Also without the Ghost title you can't double tap the turret slot weapon.

If I had the money and time I would get another just to see if I could modify it to have a removable shuttle. But as of now too much stuff and I just had to pack my X-wing models in preparation for a move.

I own 2 and am excited to do different conversions.

I've already done the detachable shuttle conversion on one, and now I want to remove the shuttle and put a rear-firing torpedo tube on the other.

Extra shuttles are cool if you're okay with plasticard.

Dash/vcx has been a pretty decent list, and as pointed out double lothal can be quite effective as well. If uboats get pushed or errattaed out of the meta the ghost could be a bigger contender too. I imagine the ghost could do well against dengaroo. No evade dice to worry about zuckuss and high attack to push through the two modified green dice. And/or autoblaster turret to ignore the green dice

unless you want double shuttle or ghost its a waste to me. Thermals are cool but definitely not worth a 50USD expansion for lol.

Theres a guy around here running a Kwing with EM + Conner + Dorsal and 2 naked Lothal pilots (i think that was the 3 cards he had anyway).

Its surprisingly strong because the ghosts take forever to get through and can hit pretty hard.

I got a 2nd and haven't used it yet, and don't see myself doing so. I haven't actually used the first either, come to that.

As others have said, however, it does look VERY pretty on my shelf ;)

Double Ghosts + Y-Wing with Autoblaster Turret is currently playing in the top 4 at Gen Con. Not that it's a reason for YOU to buy a second, but it does legitimize the list as a competitive option.

I ran Double Ghosts with an A-Wing blocker during a regional. Finished in 10th out of 54. Couldn't keep up with Super Dash. But I still LOVE that list.

Hehe, it's in the final now.

And yeah, well, I have the dials and plates for two already anyway, but flying two look like a lot of fun after trying Dash Lothal.

It's worth buying a second ghost because it is the new Rebel B-wing and the generic pilots are correctly priced.

Runner up at Gen Con earns it a seal of approval.

I am not confident that FFG is going to fix small ship generics anytime soon. That just means you have to run large base generics. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
