Will we see a ban card list or limit specific waves for organized play?

And now that I think of it FFG could have redesigned the new HotR Falcon to have a Mobil firing arc. One of the biggest complaints of the game is PWT and how they are bad for the game. And it seems like the general consensus is the new Mobil firing arc mechanic is how PWT should have been all along.

No its not. That is your view and some others not everyone or even a majority of players and certainly not how the designers feel.

Actually, Alex Davy has said in a podcast that he regrets making turrets so powerful.

There was an official article about how there are different ways to play, and one of the suggestions was to mutually agree with your opponent to not play turrets in order to place an importance on maneuvering.

So go be a turret apologist some place else please. Game would be significantly better if mobile arcs were retroactively put onto the Decimator, Falcon, Outrider with HLC, etc.

Then the game wouldn't have had to been saturated with autothrusters and we could go back to having ships that weren't invincible.

I don't think they're really in a position to start rotating the tournament format or allowing/disallowing cards based on age.

First problem: The game wasn't designed that way. By scrubbing everything (let's say for example) wave 4 and older they'd probably do more harm than good. Plenty of viable builds would become very not-viable, and the game balance which has been designed around all waves being useable would be heavily disrupted, maybe even to the point that it creates a single dominant list with no counter.

Second, the backlash from the playerbase would be immense. I don't feel like this point requires a great deal of explanation; It would be angry players on a scale ffg has never seen before.

I think sometime in the near(ish) future you may well see the splitting of the factions: Rebels & resistance becoming 2 separate factions, and the same for imperials/first order.

And I'm certain that there will be tournaments with additional restrictions on what ships you can use in them. But those tournaments will be the exception rather than the norm.

The only way ffg could accomplish rotating waves out of play I think would be if they re-issued the rotated content as a new wave, most likely with balance updates (we all know some of the early ships aren't balanced quite right anymore). Even that though would provoke a reaction from the players.

(and rightly so I think if they were forced to buy new waves just to keep using ships they already have)

Bottom line for me; I think rotation is a non-starter for this game, but individual tournaments with additional ship restrictions could be interesting and maybe even quite fun.

I'd rather see a version 2.0 if and when the game gets too unwieldy. A ship base and card only expansion would surely damage ffg's business of selling ships for people who only want a certain card, but that's for them to solve.. It would surely be better for the players if we could get a full rules refresh a few years down the line and still be able to use our ship models.

Ban the X-wing from X-wing.

I can see -- and actually have seen -- stores doing their own special format tourneys like small-base only or OT ships only. But I don't see FFG balkanizing organized play into multiple formats for official events.

Falcon very clearly has front guns, or at least a pilot controlled turret in the front.

That's an anti-infantry blaster, not an anti-starship cannon. The tripod mounted blaster the snow troopers are trying to setup before getting shot is bigger and more powerful.

It's more like a pintle mounted commanders machine gun on a tank, useful for shooting soldiers but not something you're going to take out a fellow tank with.
