RANCOR!

By Robin Graves, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

At 10 points? I'm pretty sure there won't be any defense die except the one you get by possibly sacrificing another ability. Otherwise you have something almost more powerful than Vader at half the cost...

True but remember he's massive which comes with a couple of downsides: awkward and slow, and everyone had los on you so you're not just a big target, but an easy one

Massive doesn't require awkward, awkward is it's own trait separately. Otherwise what point would there be to having a Massive melee unit (even though he has reach).

I believe Lowercase meant it's awkward to move and manuever around the board with that big base, not necessarily the Awkward rule.

Can't be too awkward when you can just walk over everything/everyone.

If there were more open spaces and straightaways you would be right

Sounds like you're doing something wrong then.

But Darth Vader has always been horrendously inefficient. Lately they've been much more aggressive in pricing most figures. Unfortunately, he's probably obsolete BEFORE the Rancor releases.

Hmmmm, so the cost of the rancor is 10? Time for a rancor party!

Actually thinking about getting 2 boxes depending on how many jet troopers are included.

4 Jet Troopers.

4 Jet Troopers.

So you'll definitely need 2 packs to get the 2 elite cards

I was thinking about this and I really hope there's another 4 player skirmish map in this set so you could actually do a Rancor party. Granted, you could only do 2 Rancors per side but still...

Plus, I do like having another 4 player option.

It was stated in the preview there is 4 player skirmish. Up to even. So perhaps 3 player can be a thing?

Or Ebay!

Oh come one people, who isn't secretly waiting for either:

a) The Twi'lek slave girl; or

b) Bikini Leia

Let's be honest here.

Because, you know, I'm not, I'm just saying is all....

From memory, the clarinet player from the band is named Droopy McCool.

The box's breakdown, based off the Gencon photos, is 2 groups of Jet Troopers (2 figures each), 2 groups of Gamoreans Guards(2 figures each), 2 groups of Nitko (2 figures each), 1 Rancor, and 3 Rebel/Scum heroes.

I thought the "rebel" heroes were supposed to just be scum in the skirmish game? IF that's the case, the lack of rebels for skirmish in that box does suck. I just hope we get another skirmish attachment that allows for more scum in rebel lists.

I still want that scum version of Lando and Leia. Slave Leia would be cool too but certain groups might complain about it nowadays.

It would have been interesting if Lando and Han had both been scum for skirmish, but I think they hadn't considered different factions for campaign and skirmish until this expansion. Campaign wise they needed to be rebel to be allies.

The wave has Luke and the rangers, so there are rebels for the skirmish. Kinda disappointing that its only the rebels that its so easy to buy multiples of without needing to buy a second core box...

As for Leia, no way she'd ever be scum, she's definitely rebel only, and what would be the point of slave Leia, makes no logical sense in skirmish.

Scum Leia would presumably be her in disguise as Boushh in Jedi (and Lando as Tamtel Skreej), though I think they'd probably need to implement it differently than just 'Scum Leia/Lando'.

This may be the first box I buy two of. Two Rancors, separate paint jobs for Rebel heroes vs the merc heroes, and 4 sets of each of the grunts. Seems like a much better value for the second box on this one than any of the past releases, IMO.

this is about the size of the Hoth set, which had some great figures in it, but yeah, Gamorean Guards, and Jet troopers are way better than Snowtroopers. Rancor is cooler than a tank.

Yeah, but Hoth had HKs!

Yea I think its been said that they(Disney/Lucasfilm) won't be releasing any more slave Leia products because it doesn't portray what they want or something, I remember seeing something about it a number of months ago.

Im hoping the actual hero characters are more useful honestly. I hope they have a dual card or something so you can use them in Rebel and Scum as hinted at by the preview. I love my HKs but I'm a Mercenary player at heart.

I do hope we get an upgrade in some of the command cards for Vehicle and Guardian, not just Hunter. Can anyone read the Hunter card that comes with the Alliance Snipers?

It looks like:

Hunter only

Ignore additional movement point costs for entering spaces with difficult terrain or hostile figures.

At the end of the round, if you are in (difficult terrain? enemy deployment zone?), recover 1 damage.

Could be interesting for eTrandoshans. Giving them a bit more mobility and some recovering power. :)

HKs are Mercenary.

The Rancor is going to be awesome. I just hope he's not too good!

Ignore me, I'm having a crazy morning and have 14things running through my head at once. I would be down for some dual action heroes that play on the rebels and mercenary side of things. I use the HKs lately in my Sorin Robotic Madness list, so I was mixing things up, plus all the Mercs and Imperials come in grey plastic instead of tan plastic, so there's that :D

I sure do miss the 80s.
