Snap Shot: Best Guesses?

By CBMarkham, in X-Wing

Looks to me like Snap Shot is going to be an EPT that lets you take a primary weapon attack against an enemy ship in your firing arc, immediately after that enemy ship completes a maneuver. Then you'll probably receive a weapons disabled token for the round. That could potentially mean that you're able to shoot at an enemy before it can arc dodge or token up, making it a solid EPT versus aces but rather useless against high-HP ships. This is what I'm guessing, anyway.

So the question is, what are your guesses? Do you think I'm on the right track? Will this be an EPT that you can only use once, then discard? If so what do you think the reasonable price point is, and how much play do you think it'll see? Is there any chance at all that it's an EPT that you don't have to discard, letting you make Snap Shots multiple times per game? If so, what would that need to cost?

Interested in what you folks think about it. Speculation time is fun. Good times .

Post action step discard to attack immediately; may not attack again this round

Fingers crossed, anyway

I think you're spot-on. Either a one-point discard or a 2-3 point version that gives you a weapon disable token every time you use it.

Nah, the few couple of words I can read say "After an e_____ executes _____ you may ___". It's gotta be in response to your opponent executing a maneuver, right?

That still means you have to catch them in arc (as the game designers always intended), you just don't have to catch them in arc AND still have them in arc after they're given the option to do secondary maneuvers like crazy.

I'd be down for that too

Favors lower ps because you can move and action and wait with itchy fingers on the trigger for soontir to come derping in

yay... MORE ace counters.

Though, it sounds good for low PS.

Whatever it is, it looks like the devs expect it to be game-changing. Let's hope it's worth it!

Only one of the two expansions that come with the card have that token in their spread. Heroes of the Resistance comes with something that gives a ship the SLAM action which would explain the token.

Was it mentioned somewhere? If you buy a the new shuttle and Heroes of the Resistance you'll end up with 4 of them.

This is a very good catch. I actually was thinking that it's probably a discard EPT, but it's almost certainly not worth the EPT slot if you have to discard it. The big "unless..." would be if it doesn't give you a weapons disabled token, thus potentially allowing you to fire twice in one round. In that instance I could easily see it being a 3pt EPT that's still a discard EPT.

...no, that's crazy ,right? That's crazy. Any chance they'd let Tomax Bren be a double fire machine gun every round? ....I mean hell, he's kinda costed for it. Now I have no idea what to think.

Nah, I'm just inferring from the quantity, and the fact that they appear in expansions from two different factions around the same time. Has there been anything in the past like that?

What if it was a EPT, that you could only equip if you DIDN'T have the EPT slot?

*mindblown

My guess is a zero-point Elite upgrade.

Tomax won't be able to use it because Snap Shotlessness will be Rebel Only. Their version of Ruthlessness and Fearlessness

Off the top of my head, veteran Instincts is the only thing that comes to mind.

This is what I'm hoping for. I would gladly make room in my current list for that! I feel Crackshot is overused anyway!

Nope, because it looks like it is contained in the Upsilon Shuttle exp.

This is my guess.

That is a very good extrapolation.

Perhaps it is like this:

After an enemy ship

Executes a maneuver

You may perform an attack,

As long as the maneuver

Template passes through

Your primary fire arx.

You may not attack during the

Combat phase.

Based on the above extrapolation and conjecture, I suspect that Snap Shot will be like this. As noted above, I see it as a likely 'use in activation, cannot fire in attack round' mechanic, but COULD be a discard for out of turn attack - to mimick Poe taking out several TIEs on Takodana, or the attack can be done more than once, but rolls the equivalent red dice equal to the value of those pesky green dice, though not likely, as every TIE and A-wing would take it, but if the card was a pricier 4-5 points, maybe not.

Has anyone yet suggested that Snap Shot might be a double sided EPT?

One side lets you fire after another ship moves or in the action phase, and then has you flip the card. The reverse side says that you cant fire in the combat phase. but to flip the card after your normal shooting chance.

In otherwords a reusable card that lets you decide in the action phase if you want to just fire then orfire in the regular combat phase. could be really really awesome if this was he way it is. So many options!

I have high hopes to get this on a green squadron a-wing test pilot! Fully tokened up, come on and pass in front of me, bro!
