Yeah, I think since there is only 1 missing SKU, it seems likely it will be the U-wing/TIE Striker core set.

I would prefer your outline and I agree it feels too soon for a new core. However, they surely have the Rogue One ships in development early enough to get them out on Force Friday, and the only way to sell ships on Force Friday (i.e. big box stores), is to release a complete gaming experience -- not an expansion. That makes a core set seem likely to me.

I think a Rogue One Core Set is so hit-me-over-the-head-with-a-hammer obvious it's not even funny. They're not going to let an outstanding marketing opportunity like releasing a movie tie-in product go by without cashing in. Anyone who thinks anything else is ignoring the most financially lucrative option FFG has at their disposal this year. Like Budgernaut said, they can't release expansions in big retail stores on Force Friday.

I would think it's ridiculously obvious that it's a bad idea. With a new Star Wars movie every year through 2020, it's absurd to think that FFG would glut the game 7 different core sets.

I dont think they'll make a new core every movie. But it does seem very reasonable that thy may make one this time.

Rogue One has what many of the other spin-off movies wont have- the main two factions at a classic ar with each other in the classic era, and not just there but fore-front and center of the movie.

This movie already has the actual possibility of a box containing the U-wing, and the TIE Striker, so there is a possibility we'll get them in a core. Or maybe just an Xwing and some Strikers.

What a Boba Fett movie, will have what him doing Bounty Hunter stuff, same with Han Solo's younger years movie, it'll be him as a smuggler, running into trouble fro mthe empire perhaps, but mostly he'l be worrying about Jabba, etc.

So both of those, dont really seem like they'll warrant a core set.

Any Clone Wars era movie will likely introduce Clone Wars ships, but both of those are unlikely to happen!!!

So no, I dont think FFG will have a new core every year for the next 4+ years, but i dont put it past them trying to jump on the marketability of doing it for Rogue One, and possibly episodes 8 and 9.

Perhaps we will not get a new core-set, but at least a new expansion pack with 1 U-wing and 2 tie strikers (same box format than Most wanted expansion).

Now personally, I would like this to be a card/cardboard only pack with a bunch of titles, new crew, pilots, etc for both Rebels and Imperials. People would certainly buy it and to get the full use of out of it, you would need to buy the original T65 blister which keeps that sale relevant.
