So.... Back to Wave 9 and pretending Wave 10 is never happening please?

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

They've put bounties into the game. I'm pretty happy myself.

They do seem determined to make me a scum-only player though, and their pricing of small base scum craft of late suggests down this path lies madness...

The Upsilon shuttle had promise, I don't mind the quadjumper.

but the Rebel TIE fighter is really killing me.

9 and 10 both suck as far as I'm concerned.

I'm a TIE superfan, but I don't get super excited about First Order TIEs, and I'm **** sure not buying a Rebel TIE.

Ugh. I try to be optimistic, but honestly, putting that thing in the game seems more desperate than making up your own ship. It's literally in the movie just so they can say "that ship's garbage."

Except the garbage ship they are referring to in that line is the Falcon. Not the Quadjumper. Implying that the Quadjumper ISN'T garbage.

There's only so many TFA and Rebels ships they can put in at a time, so this doesn't mean we'll not see any EU ships being added in.

There's a new movie and a new season of Rebels every year for the foreseeable future. I see no reason why we can't end up cut off from EU ships for years to come.

I'm going to need a new token box. Keeping track of that cloak token for my Phantom is hard enough - I'm going to have to make a "special" bag for the Mr. Hux and Mr. Ren tokens they're adding. They'd have no in-game effect, but I almost wish they added duplicates in the set so you're not boned if you lose one the same way you are if you lose a shield token.

No token. You now have actual cards.

What's wrong with a Rebel Tie? They are so common throughout the galaxy, it would be silly to assume rebels did not capture any of them.

What exactly is wrong with a Tie Fighter for the Rebels? It's not like there's a generic version of it... Plus there's already the Z-95 so it's not like the Rebels don't have swarm ship.

The idea of a 4-TIE miniswarm accompanying a rebel ace makes me shiver with dread. If they wanted to rerelase a ship I'd rather have an A-wing.

A-Wing would have been nice.

Wave 11 will hopefully be along soon.

Cheers

Baaa

And There will be an Imperial X-wing. :P

DAM RIGHT THERE WILL...IN REBELS BABIES!!!

:D

a rebel tie? I was thinking about starting not now , tells me all i need to too about your ability or willingness to balance the game.

Expect to see Scum TiE in the future as well. Mining Guild TiE anyone?

Instead of yet another pointless TIE just because it cameoed on Rebels, they could have done so much else. Even condition astromechs to a re-released Xwing would have been better.

Just because the Allies captured some tigers doesn't mean they should have them in WWII games...

Depends on the scale of the game. Battalion-level? Yes, ridiculous. Company-level? Also ridiculous. Platoon-level? Unlikely, but not unreasonable to do it for a specific scenario - wouldn't make a miniature for it, but if you are a hex-and-counter wargame printing a thousand counters for different platoons, then one-offs like this for a handful of scenarios make sense. Is your game squad-level? Then, yeah, it's may be worth modelling. INDIVIDUAL UNIT level (IE., X-Wing?)...at this point, it's absolutely worth the time.

Huh? So how many Tigers did the allies actually use on the front?

Hint: where are you going to find spare parts? How are you going to make running the thing economical? How are you even going to know how to run the thing?

On.the other hand, Germany used captured vehicles and gear quite extensively and IIRC Soviets did too (I recall coming across a Russian document on some website instructing that Pz III and IV chassis should be maintained because they are reliable but Tigers and Panthers should only be used until they break down). Additionally, my country maintained an armired division equipped with 13 soviet-captured Panthers until the 1950s.

You're talking about captured Czech and French and Polish and other tanks, the supply chains and production lines of which they actually took over, right?

About BoSS, any canon material confirming it? because the scene above makes is crystal clear that you typed two letters too many and it is actually BS.

I hope your credit card never gets stolen, because you clearly do not get your head around the concept of reporting something stolen. Something which was the case for those stolen TIE fighters and something which was not the case for the shuttle.

Well I'd suspect a dip in sales will do it, clearly just going off these forums there's alot of unhappy people who won't be buying multiples or in some cases anything at all.

I know ffg isn't getting any money off me in the foreseeable future.

9 and 10 both suck as far as I'm concerned...

Yeah, one purchase (1 x ARC-170, and that'smore for the packaged upgrades than the ship itself) from two entire waves isn't exactly thrilling me either.

Still, at least I know how much to budget for until Q2 2017 now. No point complaining about it as I'm sure plenty of people will love the expansions anyway. Personally I'm not interested, so I just won't buy them - simple as that.

Can't wait for Shapeways' Cyber Monday sale this year now.

I'm quite into wave 9. Might even make me play scum, but wave 10 just looks depressing. I'm fine with a rebel tie fighter (as a guerrilla army you steal your enemies stuff) but 1 ship looks terrible after a terrible movie appearance and the other looks like it brings in a completely unnecessary new mechanic to the game which I really don't think it needs.

Well, I think the problem is Kallus kinda started this kind of effect and the status cards are a more codified way to handle them. Also, all of the ships in this wave have status cards.

Personally I like the "tugs" entering the game. It sets up cool mission ideas..

In Xwing vs Tie Fighter there's a melee where you have to kill the transports that hyperspace in and out. I'm thinking these tugs (with some YTs and shuttles) will make for a great multiplayer scenario.

Tugs for the 2017 World Champion!

And another thing....

When I was a kid buying the original EP4 toys, they had figures for EVERYONE in the movie, no matter how irrelevant...

So the tug makes me happy!

9's my favourite wave since 4, but 10... I get that it adds new mechanics, and that's great. And the Upsilon class is pretty. But it's not a fantastic wave.

Like I said, it's no wave 7. But like 7 while it doesn't offer the best ships, it does do a few things to shake up the rules.

Look again - there are clearly Hux and Kylo tokens in there too.

The quad jumper though . . .
