Condition Cards

I'm uneasy about this one.

Take Kylo Ren's ability, for a start. "search through the Damage Deck".

Manipulating the Damage Deck raises red flags for me.

But it's incredibly thematic. It's a Pilot damage card you're looking for, so it's essentially Kylo using the Force to hurt the pilot of an opposing ship.

As long as they keep damage deck manipulation to Dark Side Force users, I think it's fine.

If Saboteur would have allowed you to do something like this, it might have been worth using.

What the ____ are you talking about?

Just love posts without context.

The title is pretty explicit so not sure how I could be more clear what this topic was about?

Back to the topic at hand, this does add a potential layer of complexity for newer players to pick up but I'm interested to see what they do with it. The Kylo Ren ability doesn't seem worth it for 3 points and an action.

Except that there is was no such thing as Condition Cards! At least that was the case 12 hours ago and less than 2 when I ask the question.

Now that they have this new mechecanic we can just move Ionization and Stress over to it and also change the way certain damage cards and other effects work because all are imposing a "Condition" on the ship.

Kylo Ren could have easily just been a reverse Leebo, who said when you tag a specific enemy, or any enemy within a certain range, or whatever , with a critical hit, reveal the top 3 or 4 cards and choose the crit you wanna deal. All this other jank is needlessly elaborate.

So make him Maarek?

The ability does a lot more than that though. You tag an enemy (how that happens depends on which card is being used). When that ship receives a crit from any attack it is dealt the card face up that you chose at the time that you marked it.

I've tried in the past make Marek, and Rex work but always found I'd either hit shields, or kill the ship making it very hard to use their abilities.

Maybe Kylo pilots ability since you don't need to use the action, but when he's attacked. Good against fat Hans which we maybe seeing again soon after the new rebel pack.

Honestly, don't know where I stand on this. So far not overly excited, but peeked my interest

Once the pilot crit is chosen, a shuffle is required as per the condition card text. I'm not sure how this is manipulation when you are limited to a specific card type. It's more thematic than anything imo, especially since the reshuffle randomises the damage deck again.

Not overly excited about this one ability. 3 pts (or go with pilot) and uses an action. Then you got to get a critical hit in, and not kill the ship. While it'll work against lots of hull targets, not so much against others.

It goes through shields. Pick Blinded Pilot, Stunned Pilot, or Damaged Cockpit (you could pick Shaken Pilot but that one is kind of crap outside of very specific situations) and put it with the condition card. The next attack with an uncanceled crit against that ship doesn't remove a shield token. It deals the crit card that you selected. You could end up with a ship with all of it's shields with that crit. It doesn't matter who is doing the shooting.

Corran, Whisper, or any other high PS ships with 2 hull get knocked down to PS 0 with the first crit that hits them. You give them the condition the following round. The next crit that hits them destroys them.

Scourge, Omega Ace, Chiraneau, or any Advanced with ATC seems like they'd love to be in a squad with Kylo Ren.

Are we certain Kylo's condition card goes through shields? Reading through the rules reference and the FAQ flow chart it's fuzzy to me.
