Rebel TIE Fighter swarms...

By pkreynolds, in X-Wing

But no one complains about that as much as how the torps just rip right through ships, esp non palp aces

Int agent jm5ks are among the most fun things in the game though, esp with feedback :D

I don't think either of us is wrong. If they can barrel roll and block like you've never seen a ship block, that's fine. If they can be fairly durable, fine. If they can launch a couple shots of heavy torps, fine. Oh wait, you gave them all THREE of those things at a 33pt cost? Not fine. NOT FINE!

Being able to smash immobile ships with super heavy damage AND be among the best blockers in the game was a bit much.

I don't feel like George Lucas really read about anything that came across from the EU. I mean, the very first two entries in the EU, Dark Empire and Heir the Empire, exist in wholly incompatible alternate universes and have overlapping timelines.

The EU fairly quickly fixed the "incompatibilities" though.

And funny enough, Dark Empire and the clone of palpatine was actually GLs idea. One of those which I really, really dislike.

The fact they existed at all is demonstrative of the complete absence of quality control or editorial vision that would be the root cause of all the piles of terribleness that the EU stacked up like it was an over-used county fair porta-potty.

Nope, they begged Zahn to include stuff from Dark Empire in Heir of the Empire. He just downright refused to do it. As Dark Empire is terrible … well I bet he would not include anything from KJA either. ;-)

If it weren't for Dark Empire, we wouldn't have all those fractalsponge renderings:

Bellator, Secutor, Procursator and Allegiance all derived from Dark Empire comic images.

He included references to events from KJA's Jedi Academy series, and Dark Empire - in his Hand of Thrawn duology - but in a "Luke was making big mistakes back then" way.

Ok so:

Sabine+ masterpiece + tactician + slicer tools+ mk2 (or hull/shield)+ lone wolf is crazy for 22pts.

As Dark Empire is terrible

Still the prettiest Star Wars comic.

Maybe the Maybelline-commercial Chewie comic comes close. Maybe.

I'm a big fan of PTL plus slicer tools.

Black market slicer tools ;) - Slicer Tools are Huge Ships Only.

Long ass name is why we abbreviate BMSTs

I could get behind PTL but with opposing slicer tools about I'm not sure I'd want to. Lonewolf also keeps her cheap and a touch more defensive.

If you can't figure out that I'm talking about the non-epic ones I do think you've been sliced yourself.

Both are great options. I just like the PTL before a green maneuver shenanigans you can pull off with Sabine's ability (and then BMSTs can't touch you!)

How does the timing work with Kanan and Inertial Dampeners?

oh...

I don't see no imperial only on that...

granted it's only the 3-banks, but those are 3 banks you can ptl off of for no stress

Flying 4 of "Sabines" supposed 1 of a kind tie fighters together is idiotic and out of place. Its just stupid though in terms of breaking the game lore.

Honestly this ship should have had just Sabine as pilot then double the cool upgrade cards for other factions etc. That would make the ship a worthwhile addition to the game.

Like the 3 Millennium Falcons, the Unlimited TIE Advanced, the Unlimited TIE Advanced Prototypes, the 4 Attack Shuttles, Unlimited Star Vipers but all supposed to be Unique Ships.

You could probably include the Punishing One duplicates. Every Bloody Jumpmaster has the Punishing Ones Unique Astromech, and Blaster Turret upgrades.

Its a ****** up part of the Game but been around for ages.

This was something of a surprise for sure. I reckon there are far more Poe T-70 repaints than Sabine Masterpieces. I think I was among the 1st to paint one up and it's nice to know I've been calling it the right name the whole time. Now I get to field 2 when I buy just 1. Since FFG is putting out a black Poe, it wasn't unreasonable to think they'd put out a Sabine TIE. Might see a Hara A-wing, B-wing Prototype or Mining Guild TIE now, which are the other 3 ships I've repainted/converted for the show.

As for the detractors, remember, it's a TIE Fighter. 3 hull and no shields. They tend to die when shot at.

This is the one filler ship that was designed not to be a swarm. Unlike the Z-95 Headhunter which could be a swarm at 12 points the Rebel TIE-Fighter has no non-unique pilots so FFG has specificaly restricted the ship to a max of 4 which tends to be the trend with out of faction ships (I consider the ARC-170 in the republic faction not the rebel faction.)

I'm also excited to finally run a 100- point theme squad that uses all six Specters as pilots or crew. The previous cap was 5.

Nah... You could fit 3 in the VCX, 2 in the Attack Shuttle and the last as crew in whatever you want - B-Wing for theme, HWK for wishful thinking, YT-1300 to be annoyed you can't quite get Lando in too...

theres going to be a bit of a guilty pleasure surprising your opponent with a lowly TIE sporting a bomb, probably seismic to keep it cheap or proton to make it deadly.

Thats a trick not many will foresee because it just doesnt make sense looking at the ship lol. "Oh its a tiefighter, well get range1 and i can 1sh- where'd he go....? whats this he left beh- oh crap.." BOOM lol

And that's why you read your opponents list first before you start to play :P

I have been playing bombing K-Wings, and against one opponent who I have played multiple times, he still forgets that my ships have proton bombs. He moves his ships within range one of Miranda, and she drops a proton bomb just before she leaves. I have killed more of his ships that way. When people don't play bombs very often, they just forget that some get dropped right after the maneuver dial is revealed.

You guys know that all the "unfluffy" or "unthematic" squads can be explained as a what-if continuity or as a gw coined term "forge your own narrative".

Really guys, thats not a valid point to complain.

Yeah, but they included a "Captured" title that prevents people from attacking it if it doesn't fire first. That's got thematic nonsense written all over it.

Sigh. Not even based off of the Republic's shielded TIEs from Adumar or Bigg's operation.

Would you ever put this combo on a black tie?
