Rebel TIE Fighter swarms...

By pkreynolds, in X-Wing

I'm excited to fly a Rebel TIE (Sabine's Masterpiece with Sabine Crew) so I can drop a bomb from a humble TIE.

Also seems the modification has to do with Opposing Empire not attacking the Captured TIE.

I'm also excited to finally run a 100- point theme squad that uses all six Specters as pilots or crew. The previous cap was 5.

I'm pretty sure that FFG just announced that Rebel TIE swarms could be a thing. Sabine's TIE expansion looks like it has four unique pilots, so depending on their synergy and pointcosts, and unless there is some kind of rule that make this particular TIE unique (that'd be interesting, wouldn't it?) we could possibly see Rebel 4-TIE swarms hitting the game.

Four TIEs is not a swarm.

Captain Rex, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren and Zeb Orrelios. All in TIE-Fighters. There is an illicit upgrade card as well, which suggest a slot, which suggest a slot for BMST. Add the ghost or maybe Erza in the attack shuttle with Kanan and you have the whole rebel crew, potential even competitive as that list looks like it can beat Palp aces and scouts. Only downside: Sabines Masterpiece is unquice, so only one BMST, except if you use a YT freighter with snuggling compartments for more BMST awesomeness.

TLDR:

**** YEAH. GIVE GIVE GIVE. Wave 9 and 10 are awesome.

Zeb's ability is actually good now. Cheapest pilot, probably 13 points, with an ability that effectively keeps it from being critted, which is huge on a TIE Fighter. Sabine will be an amazing blocker. New unidentified crew, illicit, and TIE Fighter-only modification.

This is actually really sweet. It has a completely different identity than the Imperial TIE Fighter, given that they can't be swarmed, yet are still just as efficient. Amazing list filler, much better than a Z-95, yet definitely serve a practical purpose. It's also a clear addition of Rebel ability to mount BMST more efficiently. You don't need to throw in a YT just to get BMST, meaning your list can be filled with far better ships in that very large point gap. 15 points for Zeb with title and BMST? Yes, please. More durable than your average TIE Fighter due to his ability, too. I'm willing to drop a few more points on Zeb if it also means he can live longer. It'll still be sub 20 points. whereas the cheapest you could field BMST on a YT is 29 points.

The TIE Fighter is also a much better vehicle for Zeb's ability. The ability to dodge critical damage is much more valuable on a 3-evafe ship with only hull.

My stock Specter squad will probably use Hera in the Ghost, Sabine in the Phantom, and Zeb in the Masterpiece.

A totally unnecsessary ship. People could have painted a tie and used the Sabine Phantom crew card if they wanted that bit of fluff.

exactly why they did it.

Reprint the old tie model, give it a different paintjob slap in some pilots and some cards (which are the easy part to print up outta nowhere, model not so much) profit!

Why do you think they released Poe's xwing even though so many repainted theirs anyway? Because so many still did not.

i would do the same thing. if i saw a trend players were proxying because its cool, i'd just release official stuff for it.

Official HotAC campaign style play release by FFG confirmed !!!!

Rebel TIE swarm. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

Rebel Super Star Destroyer.

That is a thing in the EU. With a seal of approval from GL :D

Don't forget: This is a galactic civil war. For sure you are gonna steal military equipment and use it for your insurrection.

I want to do this now...

Sabine Wren (TIE Fighter) — TIE Fighter 15
Veteran Instincts 1
Intelligence Agent 1
Cloaking Device 2
Stygium Particle Accelerator 2
Sabine's Masterpiece 1
Ship Total: 22

Decloak, boost/BR, then move. It's like a teleporting TIE fighter.

theres going to be a bit of a guilty pleasure surprising your opponent with a lowly TIE sporting a bomb, probably seismic to keep it cheap or proton to make it deadly.

Thats a trick not many will foresee because it just doesnt make sense looking at the ship lol. "Oh its a tiefighter, well get range1 and i can 1sh- where'd he go....? whats this he left beh- oh crap.." BOOM lol

And that's why you read your opponents list first before you start to play :P

So a PS 5 tie fighter with premove BR or BOOST, an EPT, and a crew slot, and an illicit slot for the same cost as Backstabber? Loaded with one of the many rebel crew and, how about Black Market Slicer Tools! For less than Howlrunner?

It can take int agent too

I'm actually sad that the prototype pilot lost its reason to exist

Sabine tie is the new best blocker

...except against torp scouts :(

I don't feel like George Lucas really read about anything that came across from the EU. I mean, the very first two entries in the EU, Dark Empire and Heir the Empire, exist in wholly incompatible alternate universes and have overlapping timelines.

Then there was The Courtship of Princess Leia or The Crystal Star, among the other terrible novels that came out when I was a teenager right before I decided to swear off Star Wars for good for almost a decade, lol. There's that awful Clone Wars movie my buddy swore was good.

I mean, there are countless things in the EU that make the Ewok Adventure films look like masterpieces.

Oh, and the prequels. I mean, those made it across George Lucas's desk too, lol.

I hope Rebels get the Lambda too, and the Defedner and all the Ties, because nothing i sacred anymore....

The EU fairly quickly fixed the "incompatibilities" though.

I'm pretty sure they used a stolen TIE Bomber as well as a stolen Shuttle in Rebels as well, so when can we expect FFG to release some more of our Imperial ships as rebel ships?

episode 6 they flew a lambda right under the imperial's nose....well vader knew but he also knew luke was there so he let them by.

Not that i'd want a lambda for rebels....

The fact they existed at all is demonstrative of the complete absence of quality control or editorial vision that would be the root cause of all the piles of terribleness that the EU stacked up like it was an over-used county fair porta-potty.

Rebels needed extra help vs. Imperial arc-dodging aces. Seeing this card actually makes me think that the original Sabine attack shuttle was intended to be that answer, but now they've made her cheaper, more defensive and more maneuverable. You think it's a mistake that the Tie Fighter known as "Sabine's Masterpiece" can fit an intel agent in there?

FFG is trying really hard to send a message here, and that message is "Learn to BLOCK!". I hear you, FFG. I hear you.

I have a feeling all of wave 10 is the L2BLOCK, SCRUBS wave

Not only do you have int agent Sabine AND int agent Plutt but you also have int agent EH Kylo

I know that you think the OP part of the Jumpmaster is the combination of upgrade possibilities (it's definitely part of the problem, but I don't think it's THE problem), but I always thought that the thing that made them insane was the barrel roll, which allowed them devastating blocking power in conjunction with dat dial. Maybe FFG has been on this blocking kick for awhile now. They really want us to get on it.

*Intel Agent Sabine with Slicer Tools . Value.

Well op v aces sure

But no one complains about that as much as how the torps just rip right through ships, esp non palp aces

Int agent jm5ks are among the most fun things in the game though, esp with feedback :D

Sadly, feedback isn't do good on small base quad jumps

So they'll get slicers instead :)
