Arquittens - EXACTLY what the empire needs

I will take 5. Thank you.

Depending on point cost I will do 4.

The fact that you'll always have a "Wide Arc" somewhere on a Ship, and that you can attack every squadron in Arc at Die Range, means that you won't ever see a baseline Red Anti-Squadron Die, without some other heavily limiting factor...

Yes, I am aware of the Station Having it. The Station has no Arcs that we can see, so ergo, some other limiting factor must be involved....

I would love to see a dedicated anti-squad ship with red die for anti-squad and little else of strength for it. Could help with those wanting no squad builds but could still cost decent points.

I see at least 3 in my pile as well.

All in all this seems to be a nice fillin for the carrack light cruiser

Do we think this ship is a dual TL upgrade platform? or am I getting confused because they mean the new TL upgrade?

Nvm reread it, it looks like TL and Munitions.

It would be silly with 2 TL slots. If it does then I am running a swarm list.

I agree, especially as it appears to have a Contain defence-token and the Carrack-class was described (in WEG Imperial sourcebook) as being particurlarly survivable for its size due to compartimentalisation, something well-captured with the "Contain" rule.

But the only substitute for a Dreadnought-cruiser will be...a Dreadnought-cruiser :)

Red AS fire would still only be at medium range.

You gather your pool based on the range, the upgrade allows you to swap out a die already in your pool with a red. However, you could TRC that red to a double hit with a dual TL upgrade could you not?

hmm, what ship has a dual TL upgrade?

Well it says "while attacking" so you can remove the one die that turn out a blank and ad another red die which hopefully will roll to something usefull.

In other words it is a any color die re-roll which are re-rolled as a red die.

Nuts.. TRCs are a rebel treat!

Get your hands off our stuff Imperials!

Seriously though these ships look great, excellent for protecting or harassing flanks.

4 defense tokens + a retrofit + engineering 3 should make them pretty tough too!

Edit: That wasn't even a particularly bad word...

If the result of this upgrade is to reroll a red die, why doesn't the card read, "While attacking, exhaust card to reroll 1 red die."?

Might this card be intending something else? Such as subbing a red for another color (not sure why that would be useful though).

Thoughts?

Because this card doesn't just let you reroll a red dice, it allows you to replace a dice of any colour with a red dice.

I.e. you could roll that extra red then remove a black or a blue, essentially rerolling any colour dice as a red.

Light Cruisers invite to be bought en masse.

Which would be sad. The Carrack is so iconic.

I have nothing but joy that the Carrack and Lancer have been replaced by the Raider and Arquitens, both ships that look like they have been designed and are not just ugly tubes with a window on the front.

Still better than a tiny wedge with TIE-Wings.

The way I see it the raider and Arquitens are for the outer rim were the Carrack's and Lancer's are for the larger assualt fleets

I prefer the Raider and the Arquitens. Sorry, but they just look more 'empire' to me, and I say this even as a multi-decade fan of the X-wing / TIE fighter games.

I mean, that's part of the problem. I'm a pretty big star wars nerd, and I don't remember what it looks like.....

A sliver dildo with a viewport out the front. The raider/artiquens was a much more solid choice design wise...

I never learned of the carrack until I came here about a year or so ago.

You people must be very hardcore feminist, that you see phalli every where.

And serious the Raider is only a "solid choice design wise" if you are only looking for the shallow coolness factor and not a realistic galaxie and economy. And even then: Really? A tiny Star Destroyer with TIE-Wings? I mean Really? How cheap can a design be? Even worse that the raider is totaly useless as the empire had just retired the Cr90 from service because they saw no need for a ship this size.

The Lancer / Raider design was anti squadron, and had the Empire retired Lancers?

I think the model looks fine, and only in the very broadest sense could you call it a "tiny star destroyer". it looks nothing like them to me.

We know from Before The Awakening that the First Order is using something called a Lancer-class frigate some 30 years later.

the raider is totaly useless as the empire had just retired the Cr90 from service because they saw no need for a ship this size.

What source says that? The canon page for it doesn't mention it - and in the Legendsverse we know that the Empire had its own combat-dedicated successor to the CR-90 - the CR-92a Assassin-class corvette:

I think we hurt his feelings by saying his favorite ship looks dumb...

This thread...so much angst over the shapes of existing (and possibly some no longer existing) fantasy space ships.

I loves me the netz! :D
