Wave 5

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

There were a few others that were impatient as well. I was a lucky one who resisted the siren's call until the very end of Wave 1, so I never felt like it took too long, since I was still learning the game.

I came in about a month after wave 2 dropped, so I've been happy as a clam and now am even more excited about the game!

Wasn't it admiral Nelson who went full Jar Jar?

He is still going full jar jar on my youtube channel

Flechette torps mention toggle and slider and a black die. Speculation go.

I think it's likely something like dutches ability, but on a more widespread scale. Since it's an ordinance upgrade, I imagine it's intended to make the raider an even more deadly AA platform, activating all squadrons that take damage from the flak

Any one else excited for the Z-95? I mean it is most likely just a rebel TIE fighter but I may be stuck buyng a couple of squadron packs just for a Z-95 Swarm

It is speed 3 but a tie fighter in all other respects so will be even cheaper. 7 points probably.

It could have better dice and it could have black or red battery dice

Love the Arquitens it will give the Imperials what they have been missing, but can't help but see a trend I hoped never to see again.

That trend it a new group of keyword with every expansion.

this has in the past lead to issues in other games like Magic where some keywords become required leading to cards/minis for older set becoming obsolete.

Hope FFG has a better handle on this then Wizards did or this can go downhill fast.

Yup. And earned himself a ban in the process

I was wondering why I had not seen his "doom&gloom" in awhile. :)

He has moved on to harassing people in other places... YouTube, Facebook, etc.

On the topic of Wave 5, just for fun, my first build is going to be the early fleet seen in Rebels. A Phoenix Home, a few CR90's, A-wings, and the Ghost. With Sato as Admiral of course.

I'm going to predict now that wave 6 will have the Qusar carrier.

I would be more concerned if they didn't limit the keywords as much. Snipe is coming in on a single class of fighter, strategic on 2, relay on 2, and I think thats to flavor things like a Lamba shuttle so theres a reason to play it. Like Fleet Support/Command upgrades for fighters.

I swear he is a rodent that just wont go away. . . bah people who cant stand being wrong!

I feel like I missed some pretty big drama.

I thought you said he apologized through your YouTube channel. Did he do some taksey backsy?

The card under Commander Soto: could that be Major Derlin? Excuse the post if someone else already noted this.

Just search for AdmiralNelson and see what pops up. You missed little.

So if the Info coming out of Gen-con is correct I think FFG is ahead of the curve on this.

to me it sounds as if The Corellian Conflict is the first of a series of upgrade campaign/packs to keep the earlier waves relevant to the game.

seems from what was said the new fighter squadrons will bring older minis in line with newer wave.

Surely there will be some sort of upgrade that lets you apply Fleet Command upgrades to the MC80? I'm sure Phoenix Home didn't stay the flag ship for the whole rebellion?

You say relevant, I disagree. The people who forget the earlier waves are going to have hard times ahead. Numbers are a thing sure but it does not always compare.

relevant my not have been the best wording to use.

the truth is as new sets come out things like the Tie/Ln are not going to stand-up to the new squadron.

now the point I was making was from shmitty talk with FFG "the expansion as a way to revitalize the original Wave 1 squadrons and give them new options. He mentioned the similarity to the X-Wing Aces packs."

and since some of the squadrons (Rogue Squadron, Black Squadron) seem to be basic squadrons with added abilities this seems to be an attempt to make squadrons that have fallen out of use more appealing

There is always a risk with bringing something new out, you could make something else completely redundant.

FFG have to be careful not to make say the tie defender so good for only 2 extra points and all of a sudden nobody takes tie bombers ever again.

This is probably why the corellian expansion squadrons are all unique. They will add flavour but not break or supplant the existing fighters.

I see it more as bringing the old fighters up to a new standard

examples:

Black Squadron

adds: counter and escort

removes: swarm

no defence tokens

for just 9 points (1 point more)

seems more like a replacement then an add-on

Rogue Squadron

adds: rogue

removes: escort

no defense tokens

for 14 points (again 1 point more)

and I'll bet most of the 16 new squadrons will follow this pattern

my guess is that we will get around 2-4 new aces and 4-6 new squadron per side

Just imagine the world in which it made sense for me to make this post.

Which made it to "Popular" status! LOL

It looks like marek stele does something with crits, since the defender is a bomber I would imagine he causes damage to fighters with a crit icon, which is nice.

I just read that entire thread and my entire week is better now. Thank you.
