I know this isn't necessarily the right board, but I don't like having three anyway.
Does anyone else think it odd that there's no resistance to Bind? Throw some dice, lock a person down. No dodge, or evade, or resist.
Seems like an odd decision.

It's opposed if it's another PC, a Nemesis, or important named Rival.

Edited by 2P51I think for an important NPC you could always make it an opposed Discipline check or Discipline vs. Resiliance/Athletics/Coordination (see the "Resisting Force Power Cecks" - box on p. 283 FaD-CRB).
Also, the control upgrade for Heal allows you to remove the immobilized condition. And this actually seems to be the only way to free oneself from the immobilized effect caused by Bind.

Oh, I totally forgot about that...
Been GMing this system since Edge launched, just now got someone who wants to use the Force for more than Enhance or Sense.
Well, I trivialized what was supposed to be a dramatic encounter.
Immobilized isn't that devastating. Staggered is the killer and that takes a lot of xp to accomplish with Bind. There are a lot of weapons that inflict Immobilized for no xp invested.
Edited by 2P51Until FaD, most Force powers didn't have any means to resist them, with Move being the biggest hot topic due to the Control Upgrade to pull a weapon out of a person's hand, with many a GM complaining about how their BBEGs got nerfed when a PC used Move to deprive the BBEG of their primary weapon. Heck, a PC could use just the base Move power and Strength upgrades to lift someone up and move them to wherever they liked, again with no means in RAW to resist the power.
So in that respect, Bind isn't unusual. And against mooks (minions and nameless Rivals), that's the way it generally should be. As 2P51 noted, the sidebar in FaD addresses what to do when it's a major character (PC, Nemesis, important Rivals) that's being targeted by a Force power.
Hey, I have a Bind question: Can the Mastery ability only be used against minions and non-important Rivals? I mean, a PC, Nemesis or important Rival would get a Discipline check to resist, mean the Mastery would have no effect, right?
Why wouldn't it?

All that means is everyone gets to roll opposed to the Mastery effect. It still affects everyone potentially.
