This Wedge works with just about any build. All you need to do is have BB-8 and Outmaneuver on Wedge, and now you have an arc-dodger that can get rid of 2 defensive die.
A really good Wedge build.

It's not a great idea to stack negative agility abilities because there are a lot of match ups where they wont do anything for you. But, when you do face some aces, it's pretty cool.

Sorry but that's not going to put much fear into things these days.
i actually get the most out of wedge with lightning reflexes, R2 astromech and IA.
He's cheap-ish, his ability gives him a hard punch, LR lets him turn around and tail someone exactly right on their butt if you plan it right. Yeah its only once, but it usually gives him a pretty solid kill with minimal if any damage in return. Followed with a 2turn green from R2 he destresses and keeps following just about anybody really close.

The problem with Wedge is that he's fragile and while he may get a pre-green maneuver barrel roll and some neat offensive abilities, you'll likely get killed by things like Palp Aces anyways.
You're not an arc dodger either. A TIE Fighter has Barrel Roll, is it an arc dodger? No. Wedge isn't either, especially when his BR is tied to a 1 bank or 1 and 2 straight.
You can mitigate this problem with Biggs which I'd assume you'd be using. This makes Wedge being fragile not as much of a problem. Your third ship could then be regen Poe or red ace or whatever to give you mid and end game durability. Wes Janson can also fill Wedge's spot, with some token stripping abilities.

You're closer than a TIE fighter, though, because you're getting that barrel roll as a free action - barrel rolling a TIE generally means a 2-dice unmodified attack.....which scares nobody. Wedge gets a 3-dice focused attack, with a -1 agility, which is pretty **** skippy for a non-secondary weapon.
Still, I agree that because it's pinned to the green dials, it's still not amazing. It's bloody good manoeuvrability for 2 points, though.

The reason I'm not wild about this is that getting an extra hit is generally worth more than getting rid of a potential evade.
Crack Shot is nice because it gets rid of a successful evade, not merely a potential one, and because there's only so much you can do with rerolls and focus to increase the damage output of a TIE fighter - so reducing the damage mitigation is the best way to up the resulting damage.
Outmanoeuvre is nice when you use it to take away an evade die that has a trigger attached to it (let's say C-3PO). But most of the time, that's on an Agility 1 ship, so wedge's native ability will get rid of it.
The big problem is Predator and Push The Limit. Both of these cost the same, and are generally more useful. Predator gives you a reroll all the time, in arc or not (good for the X-wing which wants to fight head to head with a lot of flimsier craft), whilst with BB-8, Push The Limit lets you get a focus and a target lock when you do a green move - which works out pretty much the same in damage terms unless you're up into range 1 against an ace - but lets you spend the target lock on potentially firing a torpedo rather than on a dice reroll.
If you want to make wedge an arc dodger you need to put ptl, EU and bb8 on him, but that ends up at 38 points which is quite a lot on a 2 agility ship
PTL R2D2 and boost ..... and lots of skill on your behalf as the x-wing needs more love
