Black Market Slicer Tools (ie holy crap I don't have to ***** about RNG)

By ficklegreendice, in X-Wing

I am loving this on an hwk with greedo crew.

Not sure if this is what you're thinking, but greedo only activates "the first time you attack." Wouldn't cause the card to be dealt face up.

So, this isn't very good though, right?

So I spend a point and an Illicit slot to fly into range 2 of Soontir and skip my action to give him a 50/50 chance of a damage that doesn't remove Stealth, so as long as I do that for six turns without dying I will have a good chance of destroying him.

Six turns.

So are Flechette Torps going to get really popular for Scum?

What inherent ways do they have to stress people in addition to the new Ms. Ventress?

Gunner/Tact on the YV-666's huge Arc. Pass a stress with 4-lom and the end of a round to a nearby enemy ship then have your Pirate activate this off it before they can move and clear it.

The Gunner/Tact allows you to team up against a target of you have multiple tools.

Or six Z-95s :P

Edit: Whoops! Need more stress. Still, would be rather hilarious.

any ship with an illicit that can shed stress easily and doesnt NEED a specific mod slot is going to love black slicers and experimental interface.

Heck, i might do it on Han once the illicit upgrade comes out. Cant put EU on him anyway since 4pts, but i can do 3pts!

RNG + Action is not a problem when its not sacrificing your tokens/movements in the process. I use Lando quite a bit in face but ONLY with EI, i will never, ever use him as my normal action. Or have Cracken following that works too

edit: i wouldnt spam this, remember it removes stress so you cant chain it unless its Tycho or a Hera-user/Stressbot lol

Posted this in another thread on this topic, but I think it works here.

Possibility for a fun list: one ship with slicer tools, one ship with higher PS and saboteur, and one flanker with Lando. I shall call it " The Idiot's Array"

You could also do one ship with both Slicer Tools and Saboteur with an Experimental Interface.

i also want 3 ships with RNG abilities in it for thematic reasons. 3 cards in an Idiot's Array.

Blast you're right was hoping for a sneaky pete on crits.

You know, Palob (who doesn't really need actions) and Dace (who can ionize and avoid stress-sheding) might appreciate it a lot.

think of it this way

you're a crappy Pirate

you can either shoot a tokened + palp soontir

or you can Slicer tools him

which do you think has the (infinetly) better chance of success?

The guy who doesn't play crappy Pirates?

The scum faction is really seeming like the place to be. Not only do they seem to have fun awesome ships, but they seem effective as well. I may be moving on from Imps when I get wave 9 in hand.

why would you want saboteur... i get the connection but it doesnt magically become a good card because of slicers.

Its still overpriced RNG and takes an action. You can EI/Cracken/Squad Leader the Slicers easy but slap in saboteur in there somewhere now youre losing a token/tl somewhere

Also, since it is an action, low PS pilots can use it before aces have a chance to run away from it, unlike feedback array.

Hi there, Stuff A Xizorswarm Couldn't Really Hurt Before, how're things?

WAIT WHAT

37 point (ps 9 with fcs and thruster) Xizor and 5 Zs; 3 with Slicer tools...

Get on the bus.. The Party Bus that is. I heart Palp Aces but haven't played them in over a month because of FFG's new mantra: **** Imperials, **** Rebels.

oh yeah, that mantra's holding up real well after Imp Veterans

there's NOTHING in Imp Veterans that benefit the imperials at all, not even a little

nope, they don't even introduce a playstyle changing super effective ship with good health and damage mitigation that doesn't stress itself like your typical ace and doesn't even come close to caring as much about guaranteed or dice bypassing damage because of its higher health total

nope, **** imperials

normally i wouldnt agree, but seeing the dial for yet ANOTHER scum large ship is stunningly free, yea you are right.

ARC/TIESF are fun looking ships and i would be surprised to see either go the way of the Punisher. But that shadowcaster...the entire flippin' expansion is insane! More dirt cheap guaranteed crew (like they didnt have enough), more great large ships, more shenanigans unique to them (technically, until hotr), does it ever stop? Least we know we'll never see a triplecaster build.

Lone Wolf Dash will enjoy this to help cover the donut hole, along with the Anti Pursuit Laser/Ion Projector, he will be tough to follow.

Unlike Feedback Array, the crappy pirate isn't giving up his crappy pirate attack. He can take his 50 percent chance to damage Fel and then still fire at something that ends up in his arc. He's also not damaging himself and taking an ion token.

Just for kicks. It's not like I'm going to try to win Worlds with it.

oh that too

I stopped using feedback Zs explicitly because the feedback damage and ion kind of ruined them (moved on to feedback jm5ks; 9 health and large base double ion and all that)

So the answer to Soontir Fel is a Binayre Pirate with a 50% chance of doing a damage and then shoot without modification against something else with his 2 red dice?

And how long are you expecting this boy to stay on the table?

I'm gonna put my marker down. This is bad. It may see play on Brobots but I don't see many other natural places for this to fit. It's not good enough to make you play bad ships just to put onto the table, and it's competing with good cards in a lot of builds (Dash/Han can't drop Engine Upgrade for it).

I'm not even that worried about the Cast itself. Sure it's dial is great but it lives by the tricks that also kill it.

I'm more offended that Rebels got shafted sooo hard. The Imperials are hurting, too, but we've got plenty to exploit there yet. I'm convinced Imp Vets has some secret build no one has discovered yet.

why would you fly a single Z-95? you expect 13 points to down 35 effortlessly by itself?

who are you? paul heaver?
