Black Market Slicer Tools (ie holy crap I don't have to ***** about RNG)

By ficklegreendice, in X-Wing

because FFG finally got their **** together with the proper pricing and payoff of a card that probably won't do jack :D

from our good friends at Gencon, we know Black Market Slicer Tools are a 1 point illicit upgrade

they read ACTION: choose a stressed enemy ship at Range 1-2 and roll 1 attack die. On a HIT or CRIT result, remove 1 stress token and deal it one face down damage card

this, my friends, is FFG learning from their mistakes (While simultaneously committing the atrocity that is r3, but we can't have it all eh?)

it's random garbage at a strict opprotunity cost (an ACTION), yes, BUT it's fairly priced at 1 point and the effect, if you get it, is stellar. This cuts right through enemy green dice AND shields (so PGS, you better be happy for having both palp and rebel regen neutered in one card)

best of all, it'll encourage all those lovely little Casters to use their lovely little Rigged Holds to set up some nice self contained combos with their two illicit slots :)

I eagerly await the tales of how you all killed Dengaroo using nothing but black market slicer tools (the poor bastard can't even retaliate because they're not an attack!)

It's like Wampa, but cheaper, better and specifically geared towards imperial aces. This seems good.

Would it have killed them to rotate the stuff so we can read it?

A pair of Pirates with Slicer tools is 26 points, and doesn't suck against a lot of stuff that Slicer tools would do nothing against. Against aces with a single stress, it's a big no-PTL zone. Against Dengaroo, it's what you use in the front arc. Agaisnt everyone else, it's a free mini-turret against red moves and debris fields.

Oooh, ignores shields as well? Hello PtL Corran/Aggressors.

I'm always a fan of anything that kills Soontir. #SoontirHaterClub

aww don't blame the guys

they got a lot of exciting stuff to do today

just when corran thought it was safe to poke his head out, some ******* pirate sent his E-wing a trojan

Sweet jesus it's not in arc either? The scum stress hog is about to start stomping mud holes.

Also, since it is an action, low PS pilots can use it before aces have a chance to run away from it, unlike feedback array.

Oh eff...

Posted this in another thread on this topic, but I think it works here.

Possibility for a fun list: one ship with slicer tools, one ship with higher PS and saboteur, and one flanker with Lando. I shall call it " The Idiot's Array"

well, that's what blocking is for

but yes, the ACTION trigger is great because it favors low PS pilots (same deal with ACTION bombs such as conner nets)

it's good that we're getting more of these types of cards in the game to facilitate the use of low PS generics again

Those Slicer Tools are a game changer. Wow.

The Gyroscopes look really useful for the Shadow Caster. Seems worth using the modification slot on.

You could also do one ship with both Slicer Tools and Saboteur with an Experimental Interface.

Does the BMST remove the stress from YOUR ship and deal damage to the enemy?

EDIT - NM, that wouldn't even be possible considering this is an action, and you wouldn't be able to do it with a stress token.

implication is it removes it from the targeted ship (which is a stressed enemy)

Ms. Ventress just got herself a 4-pirate escort with these babies, because yumm...

This creates a range 2 Biggs effect for much cheaper. Stressed ships simply can't afford to have their health rocked under shields.

The irony being that this ship can then be sliced. ;)

This is easily becoming my go-to "oh I have a point left an an empty illicit slot" choice. Especially on the Lancer.

So are Flechette Torps going to get really popular for Scum?

What inherent ways do they have to stress people in addition to the new Ms. Ventress?

Tycho is going to HATE this. Sure, go ahead, pile the stress on him. I get this off twice and he's history without ever making an agility roll.

6 Binyare Pirates w/BMST and N'Dru w/VI & BMST & Vec Thrust all for 99 points.

Go ahead and stress. I Dare you.

I am loving this on an hwk with greedo crew.

the best illicit upgrade ever (Cargo holds)

slicers are third best, behind feedback :P
