Info from the GenCon demo

In Rey's deck the rares are BB-8, Jedi Robes and Rey's staff. For Kilo he has FO stormtrooper, FO tightfighter, Immobilize and Infantry grenades.

They might be cards in high demand. Especially Rey's rares seem solid to me. But really there are always some crap rares with no value in any of these games.

I agree, solid rares, that I will only ever need two of. Anyone else who purchased two copies of the starters will not need them, either.

That greatly decreases demand.

It's really no big deal, unless I shell out for a box and out of 36 packs, 5-6 of the rares I pull are these "starter" rares.

Well the issue is even if those cards are good or even great, versions of them pulled in boosters are unlikely to have any real value.

The reason being is that if people have to buy two starters to get the second Finn or Mind Probe, they they also now have a playset of all of those rares. Thus those rares will only hold value to people that don't double up on starters.

Assuming they are of relatively equal distribution as other rares, even if they are auto-include cards, the supply of them will far exceed demand.

I think it was a mistake for FFG to include set rares in the starters, while also having starter only cards that players will want two of.

Players will rightfully be unhappy to open packs that have BB-8 as a rare, because they've already been made to purchase 2, and BB-8 likely has little to no trade value.

The rares should have been random, or starter only like Finn.

Hmm, ¨Crime Lord¨ is a legendary. Will it be support or a character? (Having an unnamed crime lord seems a weird choice in a world so filled with lore)

Yeah that's my one gripe with the game so far. I think random rares in there would have been hard to do, they should have just made them all starter only. Even if we still have to buy 2 of them to get 2 of everything, at least it doesn't make a few rares basically worthless pulls from packs.

Maybe they will earn and adjust for the next set.

Are the cards card stock or playing card material?

normal card stock. Like a magic card or any of the cards from the lcg.

Thanks for the info. Not that it was important, just that I was curious.
