The Dials are In

By Rinzler in a Tie, in X-Wing

That Gyro mod seems odd to me. I get to move my arc at the end of the combat phase? After everyone has shot? Is there an interaction with one of the pilots I'm missing?

It's for balance purposes. They want it to feel different from turrets, meaning you have to plan ahead of time. Otherwise all you would need is high PS to always catch people in arc. It also keeps the cost of the ship down, since it's not priced as a turret but more of an auxiliary arc ship. You get greater efficiency for increased difficulty of use, which I like.

I also feel like I'm the only one who saw the hard 3's on the Shadow Caster coming. I thought they made it pretty clear that the ship trades shields for maneuverability in the early previews.

Also: The Mod has synergy with Ketsu Onyo crew if another ship hands out tractor tokens.

*EDIT*

Random thought: I'd love it if the Arc got to BR after doing a turn maneuver, I always thought that BR's looked awesome with Arcs while playing Battlefront 2.

They come with Vectored Thrusters, so you could BR after your speed 2 turns.

what did you want? a white 5 forward and green turns? It's an ARC, it's from the Clone Wars . It's not going to be dancing like a state of the art interceptor

The Shadow Caster's also from the Clone Wars and dances like an interceptor - but at higher speeds and wider turns.

You know. Our moon dances like a tomcat, just with wider turns and at higher speeds. If you have the ability to turn sharper, your target will never be able to shake you. If that Lancer would had 1-Turns then you might had a point. But with those wide and fast turns? Nah. It just a fast ship without close turns. Still a good dial.

well the Tie/SF disappointment is because movie Poe had to open his big fat mouth and be impressed by the **** thing :P

" Hi, Finn here. Let me just put this whole thing to bed.

Whilst the camera cut to the external scene of us popping those rather ineffectual turrets, I had remarked on his comment - throwing in a jibe about the relative quality of his rebel craft.

His response was that he wasn't referring to its top speed, as such, but rather the impressive rate of acceleration.

In hindsight, of course this makes sense, since he uttered it at the moment we burst from the hanger after breaking free of that pesky service cabling.

I mean, we hadn't even reached top speed at that point! Of course I should have realised this, but you know, caught up in the moment an' all.

So that's it in a nutshell, really. Sorry this has been such a bone of contention, but seriously people, one throw-away sentence does not define a whole craft's capability - especially when blurted out in the heat of a highly tense situation.

Fly relaxed, and let the Force accompany you!

( psst, hey, PD, did I get that last bit right? ) "

I've been looking, but haven't seen it yet. How much is the PS 5 Tie S/F? 25?

You know, it is completely insane that these scum ships can have awesome dials, I mean, it is not like many of them are bounty hunters or pirates that might spend any ill-gotten payouts to soup up their ships that help them make more credits.

They should totally use mass produced and factory default ships like the empire, or patchwork and often jury rigged repair craft like those rebels.

Sorry, I don't care how much a ship that size is modified. It should not outmaneuver a one man starfighter like the Tie Fighter or A-Wing. I don't care if it can do a green straight 5, but when it has the same amount of green turns as an A-Wing, Tie Fighter and Interceptor, and the new Fang fighter, it's just getting out of control.

When I saw the Shadow Caster's movement dial and compared it to the A-Wing, which is literally a maneuvering engine with a cockpit and guns strapped to it, this was my response:
