Dial surprises

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

gotta remember the SLAM is one use. you really going to take adv slam for 1 slam?

Im glad that card exists since i dont like it when literally only 1 ship has access to a maneuver (looking at you t-70 talonrolls) but it bites its 1use. When i saw it was a slam i was hoping it would atleast be akin to Cloaking Device where you might get more uses out of it or might not - then i saw it said discard >.<

pretty much only good for an escape move right now.

However....EI would technically trigger off of it. Take a stress but then you dont waste 2pts on adv slam to get that action after a slam. From then on, use EI for some crew action (if scum have one thats worth it that is)

It's a neat trick.

Like spinning!

blasted samophlange beat me to it

Eh, yet another large base ship with insane dial :/

F* h*

So a engine upgraded lancer can advance 5 + 2 + 1 + 2, 10 ship units and get in range 3 even of a turtled ship?

Surprising.

Fang has talon rolls in wave 9

Does it? bout flippin' time. We got plenty of sloops but nobody has trolls (HA pun...)

Cant see it in the picture because of course when people post spoiler pictures it must 1) be at an angle/sideways and 2) be fuzzy as gak

Its on the dial in ffgs spread for the fang from the artivles

An illicit that doesnt go away? Whoa....weird! even the cloaking device can short out.

Feedback Array already hangs around

In Soviet Russia, illicit upgrade discards you !

Arc dial is seriously meh and I dislike the fact that it almost requires an R2.

The scum SLAM is discard? I have not seen the card yet... what is the point cost? Is it worth to take two on the Shadow Caster?

its technically not a scum card, its in the HOTR box and is unspoiled aside from the 1/2 of the card we can see.

It says add the slam icon and we see discard. Meaning it HAS to be a one use, since there isnt enough text to say theres a "potential discard" scenario like cloaking device.

We dont know the price yet.

Why R2? R2 only gives it green 2 hards.

BB8 seems okay to me since it has a good range of green maneuvers already (though sadly no hards). Same with R2-D2.

But yeah, the dial really sucks, especially when you consider red 3 hards and no 1 hards.

Hard to tell on the photo, which of the 2 moves for Fang are green?

Edit: so I was guessing they all are (except segnors), based on the article claiming there were 6 green moves. But a) the article had lots of counting fails and b) if they all are then it is exactly the same dial as the TIE FO.

That can't be right.

Edit edit: Oh, they're Talon rolls. Of course!

Geez, that ARC dial sucks. I was hoping against hope that it would somehow have a hard green turn.

Fang dial is good, and pretty much expected.

Shadowcaster dial is stupid good.

One day the rebels will figure out how to build a space superiority fighter that is at least as nimble as cargo freighters, but that day is not today.

It is the same as the Tie/FO, but those aren't Segnor's Loops; They're Tallon Rolls.

So many people seem to think not having a green hard turn means a dial sucks. You do know that's most dials in the game right?

The ARC dial seems pretty good compared to other small rebel ships. It's for sure better than the y-wing. I'd say it's a bit better than the b-wing, and at least equal to the x-wing and z-95 as well IMO.

You know the A-wing has the best dial in the game so not sure why your sad. Don't cry youngling.

Match that with the ability to dish out 7 dice in one turn, the dial needs to make sure the ship is not broken. If you have say 5 or 6 greens with a crazy butt alpha strike that would be too much.

So the shadowcaster has a more exciting dial than the Fang.

Not only is it the first Large ship to have hard greens in both directions, but it's hard threes . Did I miss something in the cartoon? Why is the ship so fast?

Man, and people were saying that hard 3s on the Fang would've been too silly... :P

Why is the ship so fast?

It's called a "pursuit craft" - which implies it's designed to chase down other ships.

as usual, i think you guys really need to get these things on the table before declaring them OP/broken.

a ship is more (or in fact, less) than the sum of its parts.

Everyone yelling "3 hard greens is stupid good" never has flown a large ship very well.

With no Hard 1, I look forward to the number of bandwagon riders that fly readily off the board with thier shadowcasters.

Yeah, I don't get the fits and spasms. Look at the price to outfit one of these and the upgrade catagories and get rationally underwhelmed. It needs something going for it besides falling over on its enemies because it's too big for its base.

i fly an EI ghost, decimator, and lambda shuttle all the time. Of those 3, the Ghost has 1hards but theyre red so i never use it.

I fly these ships fine. Lambda is a pain in the butt but i make it work.

The raw speed the shadowcaster is going to be moving at will throw people off at first, give it a few weeks or so and people will start flying it very well. If flown well, that thing will be difficult to chase. Why do you think Dash is so hard to catch? It actually has little to do with going through obstacles and everything to do with he can move at FULL SPEED all the time with no planning on final position. Shadowcaster wont be quite that bad since he has to plan his final spot, but he will still be very quick/hard to catch.

honestly, the overenthusiastic response to the caster doesn't baffle me nearly as much as the negative reactions to the ARC

people keep thinking it's a jouster or something, conveniently forgetting the fact that it has two ARCs and just how much freedom of movement that gives you

especially on a never-before-seen small base aux-arc, which cares 4 times less about obstacles, ships and table edges than the 'spray
