=THE NEXT ARMADA EVENT ON VASSAL= ROUND FOUR... FIGHT!!!

By doobleg, in Star Wars: Armada

This is it! The final Swiss round of the tournament. Eight players shall go on to the top cut... could you be one of them???

----

After this round, the seven top-ranked players will automatically go into the elimination rounds.

The eighth spot in the top cut is a Wild-Card entry, reserved for the player who scores the highest MoV in round 4 who did not make it into the top seven rankings.

This means absolutely EVERYONE is primed for a finals berth! You've got nothing to lose, Admirals, so command hard or go home! :D

----

The round ends on FRIDAY 19th August 1200 GMT. Please email me directly if you are having difficulties scheduling your games.

Here are the results of rounds one, two, and three, and the current standings can be found on the second post of the sign-up thread.

Heh. This ought to be fun.

Edited after because I want to play my earlier fleet :)

Yeah, so this is why I asked in a pm, cause people can totally do this to roll back to their Round 1/2 fleet (which, I would love to have been able to do). I mean, I assume CN is joking here, but he would technically be within the rules of the tourney to do this.

Excellent.

PT106, we meet again.

I, too, assume it's a joke, but I'll make it official nonetheless: if you lodged a valid fleet for round three, then you must play that fleet.

Here are the players who had submitted a fleet that is valid for both rounds three and four:

Doobleg

pt106

Ginkapo

emfrank72

moodswing5537

JJs Juggernaut

CaribbeanNinja

Ardaedhel

Roquax

LTD

thecactusman17 (changing objectives only)

Matt Antilles

Vipcard3

Onca

tgall

Mala

Maturin

Pilot no55389

Darth Veggie

KovuTalli

Aresius

Captain ICT

Malucca

Rekkon (so tanky!)

Skycake

Gowtah

WhatsArmadaWithYou

miferr

The following players have a valid fleet for round four:

Daht

itzSteve

Sanguinary Dan

Lyraeus

PartyPotato

godofcheese

Anyone *not* on this list must play their round one/two fleet in round four.

Anyone listed above may *not* play their round one/two fleet in round four (thecactusman17 being the exception as he only changed objectives).

I appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation in making this work. :)

Hm. Looks like I made the cut.

PT106 clinches w/ no final round points needed.

Matt Shadowlord clinches w/ a 3 - 7 loss and probably limps in on a 0 - 10.

Guess that wont be my game of the week.

The real action will be down ticket, where everyone with 16 points or higher will be looking for that big win to put them into the playoffs outright.

Here is a Biggs Pre-Match Bracket. Based on "I am tired and sould be asleep already."

Pt106

Gowtah

WhatsArmada

Ginkapo

Mattshadowlord

Carribbean Ninja

Skycake

CaptainICT - 10 pt win but not enough to sneak in at 25 gets the wild card

Well it's still toing to be MY game of the week!

:D

Doobleg vs Clonturin is kicking off this Sunday August 7th at 1300 GMT. Likely gonna be a two-parter. :)

Ohhh buddy. . . Time to test my new list!

I've lost all three of my games thus far... So now I'm planning on my big comeback! Watch out everyone...

And with that, I am almost swayed to barrack for a Potato.

And with that, I am almost swayed to barrack for a Potato.

Watch your language, this is a family friendly forum.

Which is why I didn't use the american term rooting for a Potato, because back home, that has an entirely different meaning...

That... and I feel like I should be tubering for a Potato, anyway... :D

No worries potatoes don't judge. Except for the red one... Never trust the red ones.

.....They have Eyes Everywhere......

I found this thread on page three.

PAGE THREE, PEOPLE.

Outrageous.

LTD vs NebulonB has come to an end.

Nebulon B was first player, and chose my "Superior Positions"

It was a gritty and awful battle of ****-close run things, but LTD emerges victorious with 234 points to 197, 37 points the difference.

I can't find the table, and haven't memorised it. I think that's a 6/4, but could be wrong.

Thanks to Nebulon B for a tough game - our fleets were not designed to fight each other, that's for sure.

Last turn of the game, and Nebulon B has a corvette about to drift into blue/black range on my Mc30 side, so he drops to speed 0. My two Mc30s use Navigate to ram it down to 1 hull, and then I have two X-Wings in close ready to finish him off - all I need is a hit and a double (yeah, all I need... sheesh!) to get through the shields and destroy the fellow.

Cracken has got to be one of the most annoying Generals out there when you are flying CR90s....

Anyway, Good Game!

Due to incompetence, the logfile on my side was not saved. I hope that Nebulon B saved it on his end.

EDIT: Seriously, I can't say ****? D A M N.

Fantastic game, LTD and NebulonB. It started as a knife fight, before deteriorating into repeated headbutting.

Very entertaining.

Thx for doing the math and reporting, LTD.

- It was a pleasure playing you, felt comfortable throughout.

- Congrats for the win! In the end, the superior position tokens decided. Not sure if I had the chance to get a couple, but I doubt it. I forgot about it, in any case. Really need to remember the objective during play.

- What I learned is that Cracken isnt ideal. Sure it can help, but you are not always at three, and opponent doesnt need to manouver well, obstructed anyway, why bother...

- Slicing is great, but I dont seem to use it often. Do I really need a transport? Just for activation, foregoing firepower?

- Need those H9 turbolasers, transports slipping through even for one round is unneccessary. Without my intel officers, those flotillas would have lived even longer. Unacceptable.

- Thought I was clever with reducing speed to 0, but not clever enough to think further and see your ramming possibilites. It was sheer luck that the x wings didnt get her.

- I am happy with the outcome of the squad fight. Was lucky with Dash in the end.

Overall, you clearly deserve the win, and I think I also did not make too many mistakes. Well, should have flown Jaina to your side with speed 3, take my chances with one less die for you.

Clearly, this matchup wasnt ideal for either of us, we both needed a big win. Your rd1/2 fleet would have offered both a better chance, I guess.

Thx for watching and the kind words, Matt.

Can I interest you in sensor teams....?

NO! STOP ASKING!

Lol

Seriously, sensor teams might have their place on scouts frigates (and that's a big MIGHT), but torpedo boats? H9s are go to, imho.

Maturin vs Doobleg is on RIGHT NOW!!! :D

not on a torpedo mc30. If you have ships with surplus dice to spend one entirely, why not.

Doobleg vs Maturin is paused at the top of turn four.

As things stand, Maturin's on the ropes, with Gallant Haven and Yavaris both down. His squadrons, however, are cleaning up. His last two ships are on the run, and it's doubtful I'll run them down.

Game will continue Friday. So far it's been awesome fun. :D
