I was going to say...........the little white flashes sorta look like the Nike insignia for shoes...................so why did you not paint the AF MKII red...........cuz we all know red ones go fasta............... :P

Wanted a clear counterpart to the pre-painted red on the other AF when they're on the board. Also have some dark blue marked squadrons and other capitals. So now I have three groups. Red, Blue and Black.

The paint job looks wonderful but I hate to say you placed the tail wings back on upside down. Also how did you take off the wings to begin with?

Quite a few people think the upper-mounted Rear Wings helps "balance" the design somewhat... Also, putting them on upside down is deliberate, you need to physically modify the peg to be able to do it - its not an accident :D

The Rear Wings are mount on a semi-circular peg (Circle with an offcut)... The Peg is split between the upper and lower halves, and has a seam running through it... The Rear Wings are only secured with a tiny amount of glue... Pressure pulling them back with a bit of a wiggle will generally remove them fairly quickly.

The regular wings are secured within the main hull, sandwiched between both hull halves. Once you ahve the Rear Wings Off (which holds the peg together, which helps hold the hull together), you can basically lever the two halves apart (they're, again, poorly and shoddily glued in place, if at all...)...

At which point, the Wings can be removed from their mountings in the upper-hull, where they are pressure fitted and not glued.

Yeah, like Dras said (I totally forgot to say how I did it, when I replied, sorry!). Pretty easy, those wings will come off with a fair amount of pressure and wriggle. Then just a case of shaving the peg to get it back on.

So! I finally got round to painting Demolisher , I also painted some GR-75's and added some lights to a previously repainted Nebulon, while I waited for paint layers to dry on Demo. I'll get round to posting them another time.

May add some battle damage at a later date.

Ok, after finishing Demolisher, the floodgates are officially open. Time to mark up the fleet.

I've drawn up simple emblems for my 3 VSD's (Arrowhead, Reliant and Trident ) and ISD ( Broadsword )

First up, VSD Arrowhead...

I like the Emblems!

Thanks, I've got a few more in mind ready for the other ships, but they were all designed to be easily applied using model tape (i.e. based around geometric shapes etc), so sharp lines, and gaps.

Glad to finally be adding some personality to my Imp fleet

Hope you do your entire Imp fleet as that color That is a very sharp design.

Well, that's the plan, just finding the time. Got another two symbols planned for the other 2 VSDs and then the ISD.

Finally got round to the second SpaceWhale, and also grabbed a better snap of the first repaint.

Just need to come up with some names for them both. May well end up darkening the grey on the second (red) whale at some point.

Love the new RAF Mk.II, the combination of the slightly more earthy tones and that great marking along the dorsal ridge make it really work for me. It's also got a particularly Russo-pattern on the aft winglets (and yeah, they do look better than stock downwards angle. Much much better). The addition of the colour combination draws attention to them which helps offset the 'balance' of the MK.II even more, something I hadn't ever noticed until now. Nicely done :)

I don't know, maybe it's the oddball in me that saw taking English as a worthwhile university minor, but I do like homophones for the tri colour. All I can think of right now is 'Nova' something (Cosmic meaning melded with the homophone Novyy, IE 'new' fitting its relative age). heh, anything is good so long as they get names though!

Oh, and love the black and yellow accents on the Imperial ships. Didn't say it in this thread, but anything worth saying is well worth saying twice! Very veeery cool patterns and great emblems.

Thanks again Vykes :) It came out a little rough in places, but it kind of adds to its beaten up, well used place in the Rebel fleet, and ha! I’d like to say the colour balance on the winglets was intentional, but I’m satisfied in it being a happy by-product of the paint job design. p.s. I like the “Nova _ _ _ _” name idea.

Cheers, I’m really happy with how the Imperials are turning out, I was very hesitant to start painting my star destroyers / bigger capitals, but glad I’ve taken the plunge, it’s really started to add some personality to them (my mate ran Demo and Arrowhead against me the other day, they look awesome coming at ya!), and I’m finally comfortable ignoring that fact they are playing fast and loose with Imperial standard procedure muhaha.

I didn’t want to be repainting large areas on them, so went for these smaller uniform areas. Just got to find time to do the rest. I’ve got emblems planned for another 2 VSDs (The Reliant and Trident ) and the ISD ( Broadsword ). REALLY chuffed by how they (emblems) have been coming out. The blue spacewhale "ticks" were the first test of the technique and have confidently got the hang of it now. That tape was the best £1.70 I could have spent!

My interdictor I think I will just be adding red energy to, rather than it being a permanent fixture of the fleet (i.e. A specialist unit sent where it needs to be). Hmm, I should also come up with a fleet name for the Imps. Ha! This game has properly led me down the rabbit hole now!

Just remember to install a big red button in the red one when you wanna go fastah.................good for rammin humies :P

Ok, nothing too fancy, but finally got round to adding some red and lights onto the Interdictor.

Originally tried to mask off the wells with tape, but wasn't getting a decent enough coverage, so decided to use some blu-tak, which worked perfectly and allowed me to just go for it with the red paint. (I tested it first on one of the wells underneath). A little scalpelling here and there on a few excess bits, but job done. Adding some detail wash lines on the well tops where the original paint seemed to be lacking. Job done :D

Won't be marking this one up, as I like to view it more as a specialist unit that would move around between fleets.

May go back and add some darker red wash into the wells at some point, but pretty happy how it turned out.).

I am now 3/4 of the way done on the "beast". Good thing I have a huge selection of model bits..................plus I had a lot of Dust miniatures that were donated to the "greater good". Aka fell under the modeling knife and file.........................I am so evil.............

Finally got round to my Imperial Assault carriers. Also promoted the new striped TIEs to flotilla escort duty (after painting up a forth).

Ah dammit. A 3rd Rogue pack has been bought (saw a cheap amazon deal, couldn't resist).

So more fighters incoming!

Finally got round to fleet ship 2. VSD Trident :D

Also painted a 3rd YT-2400 and an Agressor (will post them when I can).

Lovin' it, lovin' it, LOVIN' IT! :)

SO GOOD.

I love the black and yellow flotillas.

Cheers guys, I started out with no intention of going near the capitals, but I'm now glad I pulled the trigger on them muhaha :D

So so soooooo very jealo-...err, good! I mean good. I mean ahem, 'yeah they're alright, I guess'.

Seriously, you've gone and made probably my favourite Armada fleet. It's unique, dynamic, well defined, and very well executed. Love 'em. And man, did you make a good looking Jumpmaster? ...

Wow, thanks Vykes, the means a lot. You guys on here really inspired me to get adding some personality to my ships, and I'm really chuffed how they've turned out so far, they just feel so much more alive now.

Fleet ship 3 is now taped up and ready to go for the weekend (VSD Reliant) then its finally time to get round to the big momma ISD! Can't wait to get the whole fleet done and photographed together. Still pondering a design for my raiders though.

And thanks! quite proud of the jumpermaster, coz, well yes... It ain't exactly the prettiest ship to start with!
