Ah, yes indeed. A very valid point. To me, with the S-foils back, it looks more Y-Wing-ish in the front fuselage, though.

None of the other ships in the game have moving s-foils, nor any moving parts at all. I'd guess the likelihood of moving parts on any U-Wing to be about zero.

that thing looks like it might be a Large ship when/if it comes to xwing.

You can see in the 2nd shot theres several troops standing side by side waiting to jump out and plenty of ship above them/off screen out front. If this thing is a small ship its going to be worse than the kwing at poking off the base lol

The Lambda wings don't count as S-foils?

Nope those are wings and fold for landing not to dissipate heat.

The disc for the falcon moves and some turrets on the corvette move as well.

That's kind of cool.

For me, it looks too much like a mash-up between the X and Y. The thing I liked about the Rebel fighters they all looked unique, where as the empire all had a similar TIE feel to them. The X, Y, A and B wing look nothing like each other where as all the TIES do.

Now comes the U-Wing which runs in the face of that concept.

I forgive the T-70, because it is in an ERA where government support for the Alliance military has been resorted, so they have funding to continue a line of successful fighters.

But hey, I am not a Disney exec, and it is canon now ....

You know, the belated realisation that the Y-wing is the rebel troop transport suddenly fills me with unexpected optimism for the thing.

I wouldn't mind a Rebel lambda, especially one where you have gunnery turrets. Think super-fat-gunnery-K-wing and you might actually be in business.

As for the folding... Lambda wings hinge, remember!

I'm torn on whether a rebel version of something like the YV-666 would be useful - which it seems like this is.

Maybe they could add a Title or Modification that allows you to "transform" the craft between the two forms.

Another fugly-a** ship <_<

I think it looks great, but it makes me sad becauseits going to be another big low agility ship for rebels. That is unless it ends up being more like an Aggressor with crew, which would be awesome.

In some of the pictures from Rogue One that have been published, you can see some kind of teddy bear shooting a laser from the side of the ship. I guess that is more like cover fire for troop deployment, but I wonder if that could work as side arc for this ugly.

Yeah, I'm guessing the door gunner isn't something that would work in space.

Also, I'm still hoping the U-wing's troop compartment is modular and can be swapped out for a bombs and torpedoes module, like the TIE Bomber to TIE Shuttle conversion in reverse.

Well you can have a magnetic field keep in the air but it's a blaster not a cannon so it won't really hurt a fighter.

But yeah another rebel whale isn't something to get excited over sadly.

I like the idea of this having side arcs. Fly in circles and pump out shots.

Not sure it'll work in a dogfight style game though...

It's the Star Wars version of an UH-1 Iroquois, the iconic 'Huey', of the Vietnam conflict era. In the picture of it lifting off on Yavin, it is is in front of a X-wing and doesn't look much bigger. My guess is that it will be a largish small base ship. It fits Star War because the rebels are fighting numerous guerilla actions and trying to avoid pitched battle. Ships like this can get operatives and strike teams in and out of hot landing zones. Thinking about it now, some of the scenes we have been shown are similar to parts of 'When We Were Soldiers'. Even in gunship configuration, it will still be more of an air to ground attach vehicle. That isn't to say it won't make its way onto the table top. I really think this ship fits more with Imperial Assault than X-wing. Maybe there will be a quirky double ion cannon loadout that can give two tokens vs one, but from a practical perspective, I don't see this ever making a tournament list, which is fine. I think it fits the Star Wars aesthetic and looks cool enough. I'm sure that I will 'ooo' over it when I see the movie.

Yep, the huey of it's day. the scale on this thing feels weird. The cockpit is Y-wing like but then you have this troop bay underneath, so that means that cockpit must be huge, much larger than it appears.
