Wave 9 at Gen Con for certain

By GiraffeandZebra, in X-Wing

For the love of God, someone open a fang a get a shot of that dial! :P

What if it's as bad as the TIE/sf dial? :D

Kinda tired of hearing this. The thing has an aux arc. Of course it's not going to have an interceptor dial. And thank goodness it doesn't have the same nearly identical dial the non-Defender 3 agility Ties all have, because it actually gives the faction some diversity for once.

...But that would be pretty funny if the Protectorate has an awful dial after it's been hyped up so much.

If it's going to be a part of the TIE Fighter family, then it should look and act like a TIE Fighter, otherwise it should have been something different. This physically looks like a TIE Fighter, but doesn't resemble one in any other way. It can't even ride the novelty of being the only small ship with an aux arc, as the ARC-170 comes out at the same time, and has a better aux arc to boot.

Sorry guys, but I'm going to pull a PGS and ***** about this **** thing for a while. I was so excited for this ship, and it was nothing but a big disappointment.

So every Tie should fly nearly the same with minor differences? Fun game you have there.

No, that's not what I said. I said that the TIE Fighter family should all handle similarly. Not all TIEs, all TIE Fighters. The TIE/fo Fighter and TIE/sf Fighter are direct descendants of the TIE/ln Fighter, and they should behave like it.

You won't believe how glad I am that the dial doesn't look like the TIE Advanced or Bomber, and how thankful that it actually has 1-speed maneuvers unlike the TIE Fighters. I've been frustrated so many times because I'm in a close range fight and be able to continue fighting if I had a 1 speed straight or bank. 2 speed ones I'd guarantee to hit my opponents and 1 turns just take me out of the fight without taking me out of arc.

The SF TIE doesn't have the 5 straight but otherwise they have options for every other move. I'm much happier with the Sloops instead of the K turn. The SF has the Aux arc so I'm more interested in the Sloops changing the angle of attack then facing the same direction.

the tie/sf dial is not bad.... im actually quite pleased with it. Would be nice to have the option for a normal k-turn but i'll take my 3sloop and be happy, since i was kinda hoping it had a 3 and not 2sloop.

2sloop is rather difficult to get off unless its a 1on1 situation.

Agree with this 100%. I was really happy with how effective its dial was for what it wants to do. It flies beautifully, and that aux arc gives it so many options after the initial shots. Your opponent never really knows where you are going to go. Stick with the aux arc and turn? Go for the Sloop? Go for a block that might result in 2 arcs for a double shot? It's awesome.

And Holysorcer... I might be wrong, but I think Slugrage was defending you and pointing out the goalpost was being moved so you were being judged on something you never even said...

Yeah, I may have misread that in my rage and crashing bloodsugar. I'll strike it out.

But then you have that one stupid canon line from Poe: "wow this thing can move!" That would be a comparison to the rebellion fighters. Especially the t-70. And **** it's pretty hard to be faster or more maneuverable than the t-70.

And that's the issue. Everyone is acting as if it is 100% certain he was comparing it to the T-70. He could have been comparing it to whatever equivalent the Resistance has in their arsenal, maybe something like... a Y-wing? Or, he could have simply just been surprised by how well it could move in the moment and not be comparing it to ANYTHING.

Or that he was referring to acceleration, control responsiveness, etc. "Move" is hardly a descriptive word, so inferring what its dial is like based on that word doesn't mean much.

Glaciers are really able to move as well.

What you have to realize is that Poe and Finn took the ship with an Engine Upgrade. Poe did not notice it when they stoke the ship, so he was expecting it to be as sluggish as some of the other stolen TIE/sf fighters that he'd flown in the past.

Unfortunately, he made the rookie mistake of getting so caught up on boosting and barrel rolling that he neglected to save a focus token for defense, which allowed him to get tagged by that missile.

If only the TIE/sf had had evade....

Brilliant!

Any sighting of Heroes?

I didn't see Heroes on display. Only the Wave 9 that is previewed.

IT'S A BADASS IMPERIAL B-WING YOU BIG STUPID...DAM!

I feel the imperial players are humming about the new release exactly the way they were about the TAP. Calling it useless, unnecessary, bad design.

Now the Quizzy is replacing Soontir and 5 TAPs is a thing! Let the ship hit the tables and then make judgements. I know living under an oppressive empire is difficult, but it gets better.

My point is, many things have been said about all of these ships that aren't in the game. I don't think we'll see spinning cockpits for B-wings soon. Just FFG had to modify some things to make the game more balanced.

(But you are right: nothing can beat the T70 in speed)

Good thing I'm not going to gencon then, I still have half of wave 8 and imperial vets i haven't played with yet.

How long do people think it'll take to reach store shelves?

Any sighting of Heroes?

Probably, to be honest I am not surprised at this news. It happens every year.

i'd rather have a ton of reds than few reds and missing options entirely.

Any idea how many times when i fly 3-4 fighters in formation i forget they cant do a 1soft? Irritates the crap out of me having maneuvers missing. I kinda wish there was a third tier of movements that not only stress but risk damage because the ship is NOT suppose to be doing that for majority of the other moves available. Obviously not the entire thing since a Ywing doing a 5straight wouldnt make any sense lol...or a sloop

You know, that reminds me. I wish the default maneuver dials were clear faces with a mark/line/pip indicating what move you've chosen just so I could see all my possible moves instead of spinning through the wheel trying to find something good. I don't memorize the movement charts, and would forget a fair bit of it even if I did.

Just the user facing side of course.

I guess that's why we have these, but (grumble)

Heroes is in the display case. No sightings of boxes or product though.

I suspect they may have held off on Heroes of the Resistance in order to release it on Force Friday instead. While Target typically doesn't stock non-core SKUs this would be a likely candidate. Though the recent fire sale they have been having on the new core set does put this theory in some doubt.

Will we get some surprise Rogue 1 content on Force Friday? They did say they had greater access to info this time, so maybe?

I have to admit I am sad to not be at Gencon this year, I had a blast last year, but 8000 miles is a long way to go two years in a row. Maybe next year.
