I know, I know. You're thinking, you just bought that expansion for the Autothrusters didn't you?
Well Duh! No kidding.
But I thought the model looked neat, and honestly thought I'd get around to flying it sometime - even casually. Yet every time I attempted to include a viper in my list - I never was able to justify it being there. There simply was no good reason to spend that much on a mediocre return. Usually I will play a ship, just to justify having purchased it - but I've never got around to that with the Viper.
Now, that isn't to say (outright) that the Viper is
useless
isn't cost effective
; but frankly I've never seen anyone play a generic - ever. I've seen a few titles now and again, but less so in actual competition. Typically the only time I do see them is when someone has done a great paint job or magnet mod - and is playing it (in part) to show off the model. I'm guilty of that myself. If I think I've done a smashing paint job on a mini I am looking for a reason to play it. Perhaps that is why I've never played my viper - I haven't painted it yet. It's been a year now at least I guess. Maybe it is time?
Anyway, I wondered to myself, after essentially agreeing with FGD in another post, that generics
suck
are not cost effect
, I wondered if anyone else purchased them for the autothrusters, and hasn't actually played them yet either.
