Well, I would assume one motivation for the host is to move a little product. . .
They actually ordered a lot of stock in for this and made a lower margin on it just to try the format out.

I attended this and really enjoyed myself. No one had standard ships or builds and it was great fun having to put all the extra thought into each round. No safety net of reliable damage output or defence, and all of the opponents had interesting lists. I would definitely play this format more, though I was lucky and my box filled some gaps in the "have enough of each ship to run a list with just that ship" collection. I would say this is a great shop to watch for interesting and balanced alternate formats. They also ran a great 'double-debris' tournament.
As far as I can remember the boxes were:
REBELS:
A-wing/B-wing/Rebel Aces
YT-2400/E-wing/X-wing/B-Wing
Ghost/T-70
IMPERIALS:
4x Tie/FO and 1x TAP
2xBomber, Tie/FO, Imperial Veterans
SCUM:
Most wanted, starviper, Misthunter?
Most wanted, Misthunter, M3A?
Most wanted and multiple M3As?
YV-666, Jumpmaster 5000

Don't mind me, just shamelessly copying this for an Armada Vassal tournament...

Thanks for posting. I'm going to theory-craft some and see if I can expand the ships for a BYOS version. The YT-1300 Phantom both seem like they would be VERY good in this format regardless of its other ships in the box.
Glad to hear you all liked it.
Interesting concept for the "get given an envelope" idea - We shall take that, and possibly run a mini-league on our weekly gaming evening.
Anyone that wishes to use the format, feel free to drop us a message - We are happy to help where we can.
As for shifting excess stock - All of this was ordered in specially, even with the amount of stock we hold, we didnt want to leave empty shelves.
Heres to the next one - At our next venue with double the space!
