this seems great for only 2pts
How powerful is Fire Control team?
I like it bit it takes an important slot. You have to have plans for it I think.
Indeed. But that Weapons slot is really really vital, so Gunnery Teams competes with it directly. It's cheap enough to smack on if you don't want to lose the bid and still feel comfortable.
I think that when the Turbolasers get another Critical Effect, something that can do something other than deal cards or such that it will come into an amazing phase, but seeing as red dice are the most in terms of point costs, an upgrade like that won't be cheap and thus will just be offsetting the loss of Gunnery Teams.
Now if we got a ship with 2 Ion slots. . .
2 points in a highly competitive slot, powerful.
2 points in a highly competitive slot, powerful.
It's good but on black dice ships you'll struggle to justify picking it over Ordnance Expert doubly so if OE is your only manipulation efffect. So to all the rebel MC30 builds please take it, i insist.
It's worth testing with Screed/Vader, Leading Shots, or consistent/large batteries that push significant damage through anyway and Dodonna.
I giggle at the thought of trying a fat MC80 with Xi7/XX9, FCT, Leading Shots.
Edited by Trizzo2It's high risk / high reward. Potentially delivers 2 critical hits per attack against an opponent. You forfeit re-rolls, multiple attacks from a single arc, and chance to change a die to an accuracy but gain an extra face-up damage card. If you plan accordingly, a CF dial/token combo can mitigate loss of re-rolls.
Imagine it on an MC30 + Intel + Fire Control Team + APT + X17 within a Player 1 list.
Or on an GSD + Intel + FCT + APT + ET + DEMO also 1st player.
If you roll well or queue up CF re-rolls you can really stick it to your opponent.

Excellent point about Screed/Vader.
A major theme of the TL slot is the weakening/ignoring of defenses. XX9 is designed more around countering contain then extra faceup potential. There is still possiblity of a red crit only card able to help snipe in more damage. We also need to ponder what other slots could have room for crit affects since we have had one ship title with a crit.
Well, XX-9 released before Contain, so I'm not sure it was designed as a counter, so much as an option for an additional faceup damage.
It has potential on a scree apt glad/demo, In fact it would be ridiculous funny with precision strike. I'm not sure it's worth the lose of OE though.
It's powerful but not too powerful I imagine, because to have an extra critical effect you need to pay for an upgrade card with an extra critical effect. So at least you're ensuring the standard critical effect + the effect from the upgrade card. You can't use Fire Control Team to put 2 face up cards, since the standard crit is to pick the "first" card and put it was up.
The cheapest combo would be with MS-1 Ion Cannons if you really want to exhaust one of the upgrade card of the opponent and still put a face up card. Not super, super powerful.
We need some more critical effects for this to really shine
Tried it once, didn't like it.
Thing is yes, it's cheap, but it takes up one of the most contended slots and the bonus it provides isn't that big of a deal. At least, not without some form of dice modification to grant reliability. Too bad most dice modifications come from the same weapons team slot.
@miedo : choice would be too easy if they were in different slots ![]()
Is it interesting to look at it for debuff boats when you have nothing better to put?
spending defense tokens would happen first yes? If not then couple this on Avenger, with overload pulse and xx-9. Trigger the pulse, then smash the ship with two crits, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work in that order.

Correct. You resolve critical effects after defense tokens are spent.

It doesn't.
Spend token.
Trigger crit.
Resolve dmg.
The only current combo that's kind of interesting is XX-9, APT and Dodonna on a MC30. Probably a torpedo, but both are technically possible.
But this combo takes away OE and the possibility of H9 or XI7. So really, no.
Screed or Vader leading a bunch of Vic-Is. With XX-9 and ACM/APT.
Still dodgy though.
Future gold maybe?
When the Arquitens Light Cruiser hits. With ordnance and turbos. And a new turbo UPGRADE.

I really want this to be a thing. But I already can't fish up those **** APT crits even with OE, CF dial, and CF tokens. There is no way this will work for anybody but Ginkapo.
Ion Batteries. Probably on a Raider-II. If not used in the flak role.
Still not great, but can punch down shields and get a face-up.
If Ion batteries were 3 pts it could be a thing.
