Warhammer 40k fans, bad news... Matt Ward is coming back to GW

By incinerator950, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Matt Ward better keep his bloody hands off my orks.

So he's gonna make the Deathskulls OP (what with them being the blue ones ;) )

*Not to say that Orks are light on lore or shallow, but I feel that Eldar, Necrons and Chaos are the unholy trinity for 40K lore, and should be handled carefully and brilliantly.

And not by, say, making Slaanesh go missing like AOS did! Raaaaaah! If I get my hands on the guy who tought that was a good idea...

I'm willing to bet that slaanesh is either gone, depowered or pushed into the background by 9th ed.

Slaanesh isn't kid friendly, the morons in charge still don't understand kids have no money.

Yeah and look what's concidered kid friendly: an army of naked dwarfs with rune piercings and dryad tree spirits with bewbs!

Putting the "thong" in dwarven throng.

I just failed a fear test...

Urgh I hate those new dwarves they scream lazy design, worse they replace the much superior slayers of wfb.

I don't play AOS, but if I did. The only thing i'd ever call that character is "treetits". Sorry but really.

But this is not really something AoS introduced, the old Drycha model already had these kind of breasts, the old and Dryads the new Dryads character models however have not, the new Drycha has visible boobs again but she looks different (yes she seems to be some sort of Dreadnought), i have to say overall i like the Sylvaneth model range quite well.

Eh. I like classic fantasy elves (and especially dark elves) Like I loved the Dark Elf range. Dark Elves are my go to fantasy army. It's got dragons. It's got decent armoured evil warriors. It's got mythical beasts, rapid crossbow launcher type things, black horses, blood magic, near naked chicks, nearly naked chicks practicing blood magic. It covers all bases.

I always liked the WHF woodelves and their tree spirit friends so i quite like the Sylvaneth but we all have of course different tastes and that is ok and Dark Elves were also nice, i liked the Malus Darkblade character and novellas.

The new woodelves is the first army they've done for AoS i think looks okay, but still way over what im prepared to pay for toy soldiers.

I always felt that I *should* like woodelves, but never really got their aesthetic.

As you say, to each his/her own.

So my Deathwatch Dex and terminators finally arrived in mail yesterday. the Deathwatch Terminator kit is just a regular terminator captain (who you can get in the terminator box set) with a deathwatch upgrade kit. Since Death Masque has said kit for the vanguards... Well, the mounted ][ and shoulder pads got good use.

I really love the rules, and since killteam is my favourite mode anyway this just works so much better. Basically while you can do 2troops 1hq etc you are honestly better off taking DW as an allied formation and using their unique formations.

So much like Grey knights 3rd ed. Which to me is what the inquisition is all about.

Because I am a bitz hoarder, I have black templar, Dark angel, forge world Crimson fist pads, and even space wolf bitz. So my Deathwatch are starting to look very diverse.

Most exciting codex in 15 years easily.

Darius,

Have you considered or have the OverKill box/game? It has a number of really amazing DW models in it, and the Genestealer cult stuff.

Oh dude, when my bonus comes in i'm getting that and the knight renegade one. And probably the nid swarm set so my kids and I can bughunt. I love that Genestealer cultists are back to being a thing.

(Important note: The price tag associated with 40K was never the issue for me. Game balance was. I've stopped pretending to care about tournaments and will just be playing with my kids, this makes it much better in my book, long as none of them talk about invisible grav centurion squads with librarians and Coteaz i'm happy).

I haven't had a chance to play the game itself yet, it looks like fun but it's kinda a stripped down Killteam/Imperial assault thing.

You have like 3 ranges, melee, close and long and you move from square to square on the board. The genestealers mostly come in from ambush but you only run out of them when you run out of models.

That said, the DW models are fantastic... to the point of almost being too detailed, I love how the ones I've painted so far have turned out. But I could of done 4-5 normal marines in the time it took me to paint the librarian and the claws vanguard.

That's the problem I had with the 6th/7th box set chaos guys...

I'll defo pick up overkill though. Huge fan of anything deathwatch.

I think I am done with WarHammer.

It's like a girlfriend that you went out with for all the good reasons, then she cheated on you, and broke your heart, and you dumped her, but then it seemed like she she changed, so you tried again, and it was good for a bit, then she cheated on you again, and your heart was ripped into peices. You broke up, and promised yourself you'd never go back. But like a dog going back to it's own vomit, you found yourself one day in the same place, and all was forgiven, kinda, - you were going to do it different this time - you'd be careful. But pretty soon your wallet is empty, and she's already with the next guy.

At some point you're looking in a mirror at the shell of a man who used to have the self-respect and strength of character to walk away from an unhealthy kind of love - and you end up realizing the only way to be free, is to go cold turkey - and never dabble again.

How did Paul Simon write it. I'm shielded in my armor. I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died, if I never loved, I never would have cried - I am rock, and a rock feels no pain.

Yeah. That's the stuff.

No regular Termibox just build regular Termis, the only way to get that Captain is the Deathwatch one or the Start Collecting Space Marines Box as far as i know.

Overkill is a fun game, i like it and i will probably get the Deathwatch Codex + models to starting with the Watch Master.

Nope. there is a space marine terminator command box that (in canadian) is only $10 more than regular terminator box and contains commander. Kind of a case of "I should know, I put this boxed set together last night".

You're right, i didn't know of that box, my bad. Thabks for expanding my knowledge.

Always welcome. That particular box actually really impressed me. I mean I was gonna get terminators, and for a measly 10 bucks I also get a termi captain, who could be deathwatchized right out of the masque box.

I've not paid that low for a termi captain since 1997.

Addendum.

The last terminator captain I bought was in 1997.

f**k me... That's like 19 years ago.

They were also cheaper back then... ;)
