Will we see a re-release of a new Red Core Set with the opening of Rogue One?
Seems like a plausible sales idea, imho!

Wouldn't that be cool. I wonder if that's why Target put the Force Awakens core sets on clearance. Would be a bit early though.
There is no reason to think a new movie means a new core set.
Hmmm, new core set with the REAL T-65 fix. How many will you buy?
Personally, I wouldn't be a fan of another core set being release since we already got one last year.
As long as I get my Wookiee Core Set , I'm cool with it.
I think it shouldn't be red. I wanna call it the "black box" or "black core".
At some point FF might do a new version of the game not new x-wings but a new rule set... seems impossible with all the cards we have but still every other miniatures game does it.

well, except for the ep 7 core set
one is not a pattern, though
Do you mean a straight up re-release because they do that without new movies?

As a former Target employee, I can definitively say that isn't evidence of a new release. Target puts things onto clearance when they're not expecting to get any more from the distributor. All it means is that Target will soon stop carrying the TFA core set, and what they have left is now first-come first-serve. Doesn't mean they're getting something else; Target used to carry the original core set (I started working there in Holiday 2012) but didn't for very long after its initial release.

No, but we can hope
As I've posted in other threads, so long as (like with the TFA core) it's a non-mandatory purchase, I'd buy a new core set with each movie release if it was movie-related.
I'd buy a new core set for each movie if I like the ships. Core sets can be purchased for less than $30. I like the TIE Striker and the U-wing so, if they do a Rogue One set, I hope they're the included ships. You can't beat 3 ships for around $28 on MM, CSI or Amazon. I don't see a problem with new core sets for each movie. It'll keep the game on retail store shelves. If you don't like all the extra stuff that's included in a core set, take your 3 ships and throw the rest in the trash. You still made out. Problem solved.
