X-Wing or WW2 Wings of Glory

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

Is WoG an active game system? I thought it went down. Or was that the WWI version?

The company that produced the game went bust, but the game designers kept the IP, so Wings of War was re-released as Wings of Glory. Same thing, WW1 and WW2 versions.

I thought Wings of War (the original version) was an FFG game. When they stopped it the designers went elsewhere and released it as Wings of Glory.

I think the original game was put out by Nexus games... and maybe distributed in the US by FFG

Sails of Glory?

Sails of Glory is a Napoleonic-era naval combat game. It works similar to Wings of Glory, using cards to choose and execute your maneuvers. The cool thing is that it factors in the wind direction and how it affects the ships so you can't just cruise around anywhere. The wind direction relative to the ship heading limits what maneuvers you can do.

All I remember is that one of the damage cards was an automatically destroyed result.

Should they introduce that to X-Wing?

We already have that in the Syck... almost

All the planes look the same. At least in the wwi version.

Uhhh. there is a lot more variation in the paint jobs of the WWI planes vs the WWII planes in WoG. Overall, I like WoG WWI better. Similar but different from X-wing.

It is the lack of points values and emphasis on tournament play that I like the most, but that is a personal preference.

Close. FFG distributed the game, Nexus produced it. They went belly-up, and now Ares Games produces it under the slightly different label.

I like the effort to historical accuracy too, but I am also a tad competitive. I run a WoG campaign at my school, have done for 4 years now, the kids love it.
