Hero Types

By WillisRBC, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Is there a site that lists the heroes by their type, like leaders, healers, etc.? My group is all completely new and this information might benefit them.

I don't know of such a site. But if no one will provide a link, I will start on creating one ... will take a few weeks though :)

In general, there are 4 "types" of heroes:

1) Support (low Health, buffs or heals other heroes)

2) Objective Agents (low Health, high mobilitiy, good tests)

3) Damage dealers (low Health, high damage output)

4) Tanks (high Health, low mobility, low range or melee)

Note that these are very crude categories and most heroes are "hybrid" and can fill more than one role, depending on which items/skills you get.

There are no clear division to archetypes in Imperial Assault. Like Stephan says, heroes can fill various roles depending on their items and the way they purchase class cards.

For your two specific example classes there are these exact matches:

Leaders: Gideon

Healer: MHD-19

Diala is a great support character, but can also be developed to a warrior (melee attacks). Most other heroes can be developed to fill the gaps that the group needs filled. When choosing heroes you should consider a balanced group instead of individual heroes. And when upgrading, you should consider what skills and items the group needs. Not everyone needs to be the best fighter.

Support are: Gideon, MHD-19, Murne

Semi-support are: Diala, Saska, Loku

Everyone else is a damage dealer, although almost all of them have at least one support ability like Fenn's Tactical Movement.

Generally you want 1 support and 3 others that aren't support, or 2 semi-support where you choose just support abilities, and 2 damage dealers.

A good first party would be Gideon, Fenn, and then 2 of Diala, Mak or Jyn.

This is great timing! I am preparing to start a Twin Shadows campaign at work and was going to group the characters such as Jedi, Warrior, Support, and Sniper. I would love to hear how others categorize them though!

The ranges in campaign are so short there really isn't such a thing as Sniper. Even if you're "sniping" something 8 away the Imperials have nothing to do with an action BUT move so they'll just close to 4 which is almost a guaranteed roll for a trooper. You pretty much can either have melee or sniping in a game, but not both, and they chose light sabers.

We could use more Jedi, I'm sure Team Jedi with all 4 Jedi is a thing people want. We could also use more droid heroes, because beep boop.
