Planet Bound Past history

Hi people

I've spent some time looking over the planet bound past history in the rulebook "Into the Storm" for void ships and I'm a little confused as to how people could get a planet stuck on a planet surface off and usable again.

I understand derelicts in space which doesn't have a massive gravity problem other than getting out of orbit, despite having the cleanse all the decks, restore power and repair enough hull integrity to get back movement achieved, reclaiming a orbiting ship half wreck/drifting vessel isn't as bad as the other option.

But literally stuck on a planet surface, how does one get these giant ships off the world?

For most ships, the flight to the surface proves to be their last. Crippling gravity crushes their spines and vital systems and they remain planet-bound forever. Eventually, an enterprising captain may find one of these forgotten treasures, and with grav-lifts and bulk tenders , pry it from its prison to sail the stars once more.

By the fluff given to us from FFG, it seems the Imperium has specialist craft or heavy equipment to help negate the mass of the fallen ship and then literally lift it up into orbit where it can be repaired and eventually refurbished into a working vessel.

Basically, and it makes little sense to me, I imagine that they drop a ship into low orbit, and have it extend mega-chain cables down. Several of these tugs, combined, drop enough lines to attach to various anchor points of the wreck, and they tow it up, into space. If it is for a smaller ship, it doesn't even seem so bad, and one might argue that, damaged as it is, there won't be too much more from exiting atmo. Otherwise, it does seem a little strange, I agree.
