Ok, so I need to know if I cheated in a friendly game in my use of TB. Is it possible to TB someone off the game mat?

No, the tractor effect uses the same rules for boosts and barrel rolls, and as such you cannot boost or barrel roll if it would cause you to flee the battlefield. The only change is that you can boost or barrel roll a tractored ship onto an obstacle.

Oh I had already told him that I may have cheated acadentally. Fortunately he is new enough to understand getting a rule wrong.

Thanks for the official rule location. I should also add that in the game in question he didn't argue and in fact he said on his own when I told him that TB lets me cause his ship to boost or barrel roll "So you can BR me right off the matt then huh". Neither of us knew the correct rule so it really wasn't that big a deal.
