Range Limitations

So, they release this pretty cool/quirky torpedo for blowing up asteroids, but you can't use it at range 3. I'm sorry, but that sucks and it would be fun to blow up asteroids at range 3.

I wonder if they'll ever have a pilot whose special ability is that he can shoot everything at range 1-3? Put TLT, HLC, torps, etc on him.

I mean, you're looking at stationary targets

How hard can range 2 be :P ?

Not to mention there can always be scenarios to risk the range 1 at

Gotta open a path through a range 1 obstacle and soontir just so happens to be there as well? **** it; let em fly!

if im facing a rock and theres atleast 1 enemy ship near it i'd gladly blow it up and potentially tank the damage to make him take it too and NOT lose my action next turn.

Does the torpedo count as an secondary weapon attack or simply an action that uses the torpedo slot? Because there is a guy who can change the range by +\- 1...

It does not have the "Attack:" header, so it's therefore not a secondary weapon as defined by the rules.

You can totally use Seismic Torpedoes after a SLAM! And that's awesome.

ALSO, have since realized that Adv SLAM is not K wing only. That means that, while it's likely not a great investment, it's possible to use Adv SLAM on a ship with Burst of Speed.

Right.... hence Burst of Speed. Comes with Heroes of the Resistance.

Range 3 would be a little too overpowered considering first encounters with the enemy

When I play Battlefront with my nephew he spends half the game shooting huts, birds and other useless objects.

Do you think this rule came about because Darryl, Dengar's neph, kept shooting space rocks and one day accidently scratched his dad's new space Harley with the debris?

Technically you don't. It doesn't require the SLAM action to equip. It just doesn't do anything without it. Like Munitions Failsafe, EM, Guidance CHips and a host of other mods that are non-functional on their own. The only mod that requires a specific action at the moment is Autothrusters IIRC

Yep, doesn't work with Seismics because they're not an attack.
