So I was playing a little mod called Sins of a Galactic Empire

By Sybreed, in Star Wars: Armada

The mod is a Star Wars total conversion for Sins of a Solar Empire in which you can play as the Empire, the Alliance, or even the Clone Army or the Drone army.

To make a long story short, the game had some very interesting ships that could potentially make it to armada.

Empire-side: The Tector class SD. Think of an ISD with no squadron commands but more dice to throw at the enemy! And more hitpoints as well.

Tartan class cruiser: A good all around utility ship with decent firepower.

Strike cruiser: Fragile but powerful ship

Lancer: Good AA ship

Vindicator: This one looks like a smaller ISD. Less firepower, but still pretty tanky.

Dreadnought: A good all around ship.

Rebel Side: (Haven't played the rebels yet so I can't really say anything about them) The Assault Frigate Mark 1. We already talked about it, but it seems a cool enough ship

Dauntless Class cruiser

Liberator Class Cruiser

MC40 Frigate

CC-9600 Frigate

Anyway, here's some fuel for future waves!

I have an older version (SoaSE Trinity) and with the Requiem mod for Diplomacy where one senario added a SSD. I don't know how it was added, but I went an used the map maker to custom create a map where I start with it on a larger non-senario map. EPIC. Still one of the my favorite games due to all the mods. Star Trek, Babalyon 5, HALO, etc... Few games IMO give the feeling of epic fleet battles the way SoaSE does.

my only gripe with the mod is that the ships are too small to respect the scale for the executioner. You can't see tie fighters because of that and you need to close in a lot on SDs.

one question for Ascendancy: in SoGE, Capital can target 3-5 ships at the same time. Can they do the same in Ascendancy?

I doubt we've seen the last of things from the EU...

But what we have seen the last of is considering the EU as the "prime" source of materials.

Canon sources will always be considered first and foremost - and there's a pile just waiting in Rebels right now... We've even got 2 "Admirals" that are waiting for expansions there, and a whole whack of ships.

So definitely, we'll get more EU sources, but they'll be trickled through what is already Canon first, and then and only then, will it be mined directly...

...

I mean, I know I used CC-9600s in Rebellion, but I couldn't actually tell you the EU source for it, for example...

I've played all the Star Wars mods for Sins.

Ascendancy is my favourite, well polished and balanced. There isn't much in the way of researching new ships, so it feels very different to your typical rts, but feels more Star Wars. It also contains the glad and raider.

SOGE on the other hand is a much bigger project currently going through a big rebuild, which could make it a fantastic game. It has a the whole research and unlock new ships mechanic.

Good to know I have this game and might need to give it a second look now.
