While not competitive, I love the vision of advance sensor B-wings blowing up asteroids and flying through the space where they once were.
Seismic Torpedoes! Remove obstacles!
Vote Airen Cracken for combat phase sudden asteroid explosion.
Time for an updated turn 0 article.
.
Hmmm...how about on the Ghost...shooting twice [with EM if you have it, rather than two ST's] out of either front or rear arcs, clearing those annoying obstacles and maybe gaining some damage in front or those sneaking behind as a bonus?

Don't think it works
If special arc specifies a torp 2ndary weapon, seismics are as much of a weapon as extra munitions and bomb loadouts
Main advantage I see here is that it is the other player that rolls the dice so you COULD either deal a hit or crit to an interceptor before they are tokened up or better yet, could even force a very early Palp use.
I like the mechanic, just don't see it being all that consistent.
Also, reckon the primary arc restriction was put in place specifically for Nora?
That, and it specifies primary firing arc. Torpedoes dont specify that, since NOTHING fires out of your primary firing out unless it is specifically granted permission.
Also, yeah, if this happens to do a crit to an Ace (Vader or Inquis probably would just tank it due to shields) i could easily see an early palp use to cancel that, since you cant evade it. It doesnt remove SD since its not an attack but usually Soontir tends to stick around with 1hp, this could be the turning point for that. Or, early crit could cripple him. Imagine dealing PS0 crit to him right off the bat lol arcdodging just got really hard.
Edit: Oh...idea
You are tailing the Shadowcaster (or any ship with Rigged Cargo) and they dump a debris in your path. Long as you arent in range1, just blow it up. They ARE in range1 since they just dumped it. Removes the debris and causes potential damage!
Edited by Vineheart01Hmm. Was going to only get one ARC-170 if Kihraxz gets a fix, since I don't know if VT will be the save it needs, but this looks fun enough I might grab two. Not competitive at all, but it would be hilarious to have a couple of TIE bombers/punishers running around with these and blowing up asteroids.
I do
It's two points for possibly no damage
Unless you're not a great pilot, you don't need this card
This is a WORTHLESS CARD. Here are my reasons:
Counter scenario, what I'm calling the "That's right, you go ahead and park your arc dodger behind that obstacle" scenario:
I'll just shoot it out the way, get a 50/50 chance of causing you a damage, and THEN take my shot.
Don't get me wrong, 2 points for a situation which only arises only... nigh-on every time I play someone with aces, might not be worth it. Bit early to start saying it's worthless though.
Oh, and:
4. Your opponent rolls a hit or crit on the die roll. That is a 50/50 chance of dealing any damage. Oh, and The Emperor can modify that die roll.....
Good.
Let him spend his Emperor before I've even had a chance to shoot at him.
Edited by Stu35I didn't say it's worthless note
Just that it's probably best on triple jm5ks once you turn one into a bumpmaster
And it's an action as well, meaning it's a buff to the low PS ships that might have trouble keeping arc dodgers in their sights otherwise.
I like it. If I have some spare points, it could find it's way on my X-Wings...
people act like palpatine is limitless use....
Seriously, you would SEVERELY piss off any palpace player if you forced him to palp a crit to a blank off this thing. If you can land 3-4 hits its very likely he needs palp to completely dodge the attack. The average result of 4 defense dice is slightly in favor of Soontir for dodging a 3hit attack without palp (do NOT count autos, i said 4 die not 5 so its not range3 and wtf are you firing out of arc for at soontir) but only just. That singular hit palp didnt change just cost him his SD and now his average defense is locked to 1 evade 1 focus 1 blank, which even with double token is pretty easy to get through.
Really wish people would stop using palpatine in a vacuum. It makes him 1000x stronger than he is when you think of him in literally 1 scenario and 1 scenario only and completely ignore the potential 6-7 additional scenarios to follow where he could be used in ONCE between all of them.
Edited by Vineheart01I'd be COMPLETLY sold on this card if it let us use it at range 3.

I agree. Maybe it would be too good, but I doubt it. The thing is, Range 1 isn't really an option because you're just as likely to do damage to yourself, making this upgrade limited to range 2 only.
ive never played with those things, but arent they considered something completely different or are they still labeled as "obstacles"?Lol, epic games where you can now remove a corvette from the board with an action.

It is Range 2 against an extremely predictable target, however.
I doLove it!

What a brilliant card, I see no reason not to equip this if you have the points.
It's two points for possibly no damage
Unless you're not a great pilot, you don't need this card
Alternatively, if you love jumpmasters (3 large obstacle hugging bases) you might love this card too
Don't see how it helps the ARC much. Obstacles are perfect por limiting enemy movement options while you abuse your double arcs
Guess if you run into dash?
Uboats dont want this. Every seismic torpedo is one less plasma or proton you can use for actually dealing damage. I might use it on my super dengar, fenn rau list where Im at 92 points without torpedoes and currently have flechette torpedoes adding points
I doLove it!

On the ofher hand, if you shot a seismic torpedo and he had to palp away a crit, one of your ships is now probably shooting unmodified, and the odds of an unmodified ship hitting soontir even without palp are low. Sure you have other ships, but you also have to arrange for them to actually get SHOTS at soontir. Which can be easier said than done
I can count at least 4 times (during a tourney) that I would have benefited greatly by blowing up an obstacle. I always fantasized about destroying rocks during a tournament... now I can.
Pew! Pew!
U-boats don't want to remove obstacles for their large bases? And maybe catch one of Palp's aces where they can't use green dice or palp? At a low pilot skill so they'd know when to pop the obstacle? Or threaten to pop it and trick opponents to fly on/through them?
Guys your forgetting something...
You are now able to destroy MUSTACHE ROCK!
I Hate that thing with a passion, I'll pay 2 points to get its unpredictable tiny butt right off the map.

Its not worth losing plasma or protons for this on uboats
Edited by VanderLegionI like this more for the fact that it can really alter the course of a round. Your low PS ship goes first, nukes a rock, and all of your higher PS ships will have dialed in maneuvers they otherwise would have avoided... Maybe your opponent plans on this, maybe they didn't think you'd bother popping the card with no possible damage...
Dunno, I'm not super worried about the damage being done to enemies being 50%. I'm all for changing the map and using that change to your advantage. And, as we sometimes see with Tractor Beams, the ability to do something can be just as effective, if not more, than actually doing the thing.
mustache rock seriously that much of a pain? lol so many people complain about it to the point that its a regular for me now. Never hit it myself.
Not when it means losing out on the torpedoes that do actual damage. Especially when palp aces will just palp a hit or crit away if you get it ( they roll the die so palp DOES work). And then laugh at your 2 dice primary when you cant fire a real torpedo at them.U-boats don't want to remove obstacles for their large bases?
