Quad Buzzsaw Advanced, how to counter?

By flyboymb, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Played at a recent store tourney and 2nd place went to a guy running the following squadron:

Darth Vader, VI, TX1, AC

3X Storm Squadron, TX1, AC

I was playing a PTL Inquisitor, ACD Echo, and ATC Vader combo. Didn't matter how much I tried to arc-dodge, Tokyo Drift with Echo, or pop Evades, he would have his ships positioned to cover blind spots and green dice aren't geared towards achieving 50%-66% returns especially on multiple turns.

I've played this guy when he was running other builds and have managed to beat him but this build continues to vex me.

It seems to be exceedingly strong against hi evade low attack ships. I would guess that TLT would work well with Rebels or Scum, but what would be a viable Imperial counter besides mirroring it and outmaneuvering him?

I guess, really heavy attack punch should be effective against this particular build. And Omega Leader, of course. Maybe, like this:

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

Colonel Vessery (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tractor Beam (1)
TIE/D (0)

"Echo" (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Agent Kallus (2)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Total: 100

Or, including yet unreleased TIE/sf:

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

"Quickdraw" (29)
Rage (1)
Electronic Baffle (1)
Special Ops Training (0)

Academy Pilot (12)

Darth Vader (29)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
TIE/x1 (0)

or

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)

Total: 100

Accuracy Corrector Advanced??? That's not what buzzsaw means, but whatever.

He can deal a maximum of 2 damage. You have an evade action. So you only need to roll 1 evade to completely negate one attack. Echo with FCS should be very strong against this list (he's actually very good at blocking higher PS, so is a big help vs opposing Vader). So basically I think your list should be able to beat this list. Perhaps you just need to rethink how you approach it, what actions you pick and how you prioritize targets?

Personally, I would go with a 'three flankers' approach and get a feel for which of your ships the opponent wants to go for first. Get your other two ships behind and focus fire. Run away with the targeted ship. You don't even have to go for Vader first, just try to take one ship off the board before he can do significant damage to the fleeing ship. Use Echo to block Vader and take him out of the equation if the opportunity arises...

I started that post yesterday but decided "meh".

...it was bugging me though, so thank you for that.
