Give me your best Scum and Villainy Boba Fett build

By Shadow345, in X-Wing

People are dismissing Dengar on Boba.

Boba doesn't want to be at range 1 of too many ships, unless he can bump one, or dodge arcs, because firesprays are fragile against mass fire. Getting more than one or two innate rerolls is unlikely without also risking massive damage in return. If you're trying to catch something fast like aces or other large base ships, being able to get rerolls and still use EU is pretty useful.

Dengar means that Boba's shooting is frequently action independently completely rerollable, freeing up your actions for what is situationally best - and it's cheaper than gunner. It's less able to capitalise on stripping tokens, of course.

I won Mexico Regionals in 2007 with a Dual Firespray List, I used:

Boba Fett, Adaptability, 4-Lom, Glitterstim, Homing Missiles, Guidance Chips, Seismic Charges, Slave 1.

Kath, Veteran Instincts, Dengar, Glitterstim, Homing Missiles, Guidance Chips.

Right now Im testing a Fearlessness Cluster Missiles Combo build.

Opinions? I'll appreciate any comments, some friends and I plan to attend to Kashyyyk Open.

I wonder if there's a place for Expertise Fett. Give him Engine Upgrade, and you can get fully modified attacks at range 1, action free.

Could just go mindlink Fett for pretty much the same effect and its cheaper, but no boost unfortunately.

Fenn: Title, Mindlink, Thrusters

Boba: Mindlink

Manaroo: Mindlink

Supprised nobody has suggested this build yet honestly. Expertise could be good though if youre just tired of Mindlink. What would you pair with Expertise Boba?

I like one of these:

Predator+Gunner+Ion Cannon

Predator+Dengar+HLC (you can happily fire since the start of the game and do whatever action you want because most of the time, you are re-rolling three dice)

Fearlessness+Autoblaster+Recon Specialist (I also tried Greedo on this one and it was fun most of the time)

Honestly? I tried glitterstim a lot on him and....I don't like it. Boba litterally doesn't work on stress. Yep Glitter is amazing but he have few greens and he wants to be mostly maneuvrable as possible.

Inertial Dampners is the same. I lost the count of how many matches I've lost because of 1 turn of those equip, and one's after completely out of the fire-zone.

I'm the one who try new ways and if I can say it, I will say Dead man's switch. He is not an Hound who needs the 0, and he's agi rerolls can swap glitterstim. In both case, the stress block him too much.

VI/LoneWolf/Adaptability/Mindlink are fine.

Engine Upgrade is mandatory.

Dengar is the one who mostly fit s better in him (you're can't be ALWAYS at range 1, or you will have just 1 ship, so 2/rerolls turns into an auto TargetLock).

I don't like bombs on him, too costly and he needs all of his actions.

No cannon slots. Neither the autoblaster.

No protons/missile, he don't likes targeting anyone.

So no title for him.

My thoughts.

fearless / engine / 4Lom (or tail gunner) / glitterstim / slave I title because awesome

Autoblaster cannon optional but worth the LULZ. If going autoblaster cannon, remove 4LOM.

I've been using boba with mind link and engine upgrade. I think the main problem with the firespray is action efficiency. Boba's ability helps massively, mind link then frees up his action to boost or evade. Then depending on points 4lom/tail gunner, bombs and autoblaster are good additions. I've tried Dengar and can see the benefits but I prefer 4lom or tail gunner as they offer something different to his ability and are cheaper!

If not using mind link then fearlessness is a lot of fun.

Yeah, good point with Mindlink. Maybe you use it with squads that don't like Mindlink? Are there squads like that for Scum these days?

Boba: Fearlessness, Engine, Autoblaster cannon, IG-88D crew. Aggressor IG-88C: VI, HLC, FCS. Thrusters. Spoil yourself rotten with the last 2 points. I have one shot Fenn Rau and the Inquisitor with this list. Boba charges ahead while IG-88C snipes with HLC. Good fun. Also beautifull with mindlink.

2 x Y wings with TLT

Boba with Fearlessness, Autoblaster Cannon, Counter Measures and Glitterstim (no crew)
98 points

i'm 50 / 50 with this combo.

Boba is the obvious heavy hitter and the main focus of fire from any opponent and that is fine against most lists. Especially when you joust, end up at range one of a Fenn Rau and Co, armed with your Glitterstim, Countermeasures and evade token.

Fenn unloads five dice, with a focus, you may or may not take damage due to the red/green dice but you have the advanatge. Then you let loose a three dice, focus/re-roll Autoblaster with an added hit. BYE FENN.

Ha.

Ha ha.

Ha ha ha ha. . .

BAAAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!

Obviously loses to swarms and stuff with massive amounts of hull or alpha strike damage.

Maybe if you're flying him with an alpha strike Bossk or something? Bossk is going to want another EPT that isn't Attanni, so I could see Expertise on Fett in that list. Might actually be a pretty solid list! You'd certainly wipe the floor with defenders, so thats always good lol.

i have a list with Boba ive been meaning to fly but i need the Crane from Tugboats first:

Boba Fett (39) 53
PTL (3)
Ion Cannon (3)
Counter Measures (3)
Recon Spec (3)
Scavenger Crane (2)

Cartel Spacer (14) 23 x2
Heavy Scyk Title (2)
HLC (7)

Total: 99pts

The Ion Cannon is for a range3 shot to set up for the Boba dive, can be swapped out if you wish. Boba dives in, PTL for double focus + an evade, uses his ability to reroll, and pops CounterMeasures. If something dies, get CounterMeasures back. Two cheapo Scyks with HLC hang back and DO NOT discount their threat lol.

I believe Stay on the Leader already blogged a similar combo. No title on Venn. But regardless, it looks fun.

It's pretty much Bobattanni build tested extensively by David Sutcliffe (aka Stay on the Leader). He made a cut with it during Regionals. No title on Fenn tho, exchanged for 4-Lom on Boba Fett (to better counter Defenders)

I don't play S&V yet, but theory crafting I would try something like this:

Boba Fett (Scum) (39)
Fearlessness (1)
Autoblaster (5)
Tail Gunner (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Slave I (0)

Total: 51

Fearless Boba with an Autoblaster is rampaging death at range 1. EU helps you get and stay there. Tail Gunner is optional, but I've had luck with it on Imperial Firesprays, and Fearlessness works off the rear arc as well, so its something to consider. Slave 1 just because.

If you want to get stupidly expensive, add Extra Munitions, Conner Nets, Homing Missiles, and Scavenging Crane, but that is just silly at that point.

I posted this build here

Boba Fett (39) -- 61 pts total

  • Veteran Instincts (1) -- PS10 and an initiative bid (99 point list) allows Boba to move after Nym moves -- might swap for Lone Wolf (2), and go with Inertial Dampeners (1)
  • Engine Upgrade (4) -- Boba often needs this to get ships in arc
  • Ion Cannon (3) -- a Nym neutralizer if used right
  • Dengar (3) -- making up for lack of chips; and it with Boba it gives me 3 rerolls against named pilots at range 1
  • Cruise Missiles (3) -- to provide 2x 3-dice attacks at Range 1 (with 3x Boba and Dengar re-rolls acting as a target lock effect)
  • Glitterstim (2) -- for that one-time up-close, go-for-broke, alpha strike -- see comment on VI
  • Slave 1 (0) -- Torpedo Slot lets you equip....
  • Extra Munitions (2) -- to provide TWO of those Cruise Missile shots, and TWO Cluster Mines (see below) during the match
  • Cluster Mines (4) -- to give Nym a taste of his own medicine AND because its fun to repeatedly reveal, drop a bomb, go 1 forward, and use Boba's rear arc

I will fly him with:

Fenn Rau (28) -- 38 pts total

  • Push the Limit (3) -- all kinds of arc dodging (and offensive arc manipulating) with PTL
  • Proton Torpedoes (4) -- I thought about APTs (6), but I would have to lose a point somewhere else (drop 'Stims for Inertial Dampeners?) AND lose initiative bid... or Plasma Torps (3) (a 98pt list) -- to burn an extra shield point?
  • Concord Dawn Protector (1) -- keeps Fenn alive when he goes in for head-to-head kill shots
  • Autothrusters (2) -- needed against turret ships like Nym, Dash, Dengar

Open to thoughts... and I realize this is not a current "meta" list. But I would rather think about what's cool than fly what somebody else flew at a big tourney!

My Boba did well recently with Fearlessness and Engine Upgrade. Cheap and reliable if you can manage to get to Range 1.

Indeed. Fearlessness is a surprisingly nasty weapon with both arcs available.

If you have spare points, a K4 droid and cluster missiles/extra munitions loaded on top is a scary way to spend 9 points - fearlessness/focused/rerolled clusters hurt.

But I agree that keeping a firespray cheap is one of the most important rules.

So does 6 likely hits from Advanced Proton Torpedoes!
