Is Ghost/or any ship worth buying to expand?

By black4, in X-Wing

Hi, first of all I am new to this game same goes to my partner (fiancee). I play imperial (I like to fly Aces) while she plays rebels (she like big ships alot!)

We like the game because it is fast and east to learn :)

We have the following:

1 Old core set

1 TFA core set

Imperial:

1 Imperial aces pack

1 Tie advanced

1 Slave

1 Tie/FO

1 Tie (old pack)

1 Tie Interceptor

Rebels:

1 T-65 X-wing

1 Rebel Aces pack

1 YT2400

1 Millennium falcon

In Amazon Cart:

1 E-wing

1 Inquisitor's Tie

Back to the question, is Ghost or any other ships that worth to buy for our current ship pool?

We are not really looking to buy packs just for cards upgrade, we are buying ships and we print cards off as proxies and play casually at our LGS.

Thanks in advanced for the valuable feedback!

The Ghost is an excellent ship and good fun to play with. The various pilots have interesting abilities but even the cheap generic "Lothal Rebel" is fun to use and pretty effective. In fact Dash/Ghosts lists seem to be doing very well at the moment.

The Inquisitor's Tie is a good choice, mainly for the Inquisitor himself. Not sure the E-wing is worth it though. Some people have good success with Coran Horn but the rest of the pilots are pretty poor.

Imperial Veterans is a great purchase also that breathes new life into the Tie Defender and Bomber.

I own two of them. In my opinion, the Lothal Rebel is one of the best values in the Rebel fleet. 35 points for 4 attack dice backed by 16 health, with a great dial and one of the best assortments of upgrade slots in the game. Two crew slots (always fantastic for rebels), a System slot, plus a turret. My only wish was that it had a third crew slot so you could fit the entire Rebels cast in there, but I can see how that could get broken.

If your fiancee likes big ships, she'll probably really enjoy the Ghost. The Phantom pilots have neat abilities too (Sabine Wren is awesome).

I Karhedron's opinions. E-wing is meh, The Inquisitor is a lot of fun, and Imperial Aces add a lot and are a good way to get the TIE Defender and Bomber.

I'd also recommend the Rebel Transport for your fiancee. Its a good (and comparatively cheap) introduction to the Epic-play Huge ships, and also comes with some neat X-wing pilots. All the Huge ships come with multi-mission campaigns, all of which are a lot of fun. And if she likes X-wings, the T-70 X-wing has some interesting upgrades and pilots in it as well.

If you decide you like the Rebel Transport and Huge ships, the Imperial Raider has fantastic upgrades for your Imperial aces, especially the TIE Advanced, and another huge ship and campaign along with it.

If you haven't played any of the missions included in the bigger expansions, do them. They throw a bit of a monkey wrench into your games and are a lot of fun. My personal favorites are for the Scum and Villainy ships, but all of them are worth playing. Oh, and the VT-49 Decimator is a neat Imperial large-base ship.

I like the ghost. It's a slugger for sure. Think of it like a tank. No agility, but can take a beating, and dish it out too.

Decimator same idea.

I also suggest getting a tie defender, and imperial veterans and a bomber or two. They can be quite fun, and again, tanky.

If you want to get into bigger games look towards the epic ships. Personally I love epic

Hi Black, Welcome to the forums!

You, as you've already noticed have plenty to play around with, so the good news is you can be discerning as you wish. I would say wait to see if a ship captures your fancy.

However, should you and the fiancee ever want to experience the glory of epic play the Raider is a nice entry point and will turn Darth Vader into the best pilot in your Imperial fleet as a bonus.

She could then get the Tantive, and you could learn to curse C-3PO as she loads him up on the Falcon. I'd go with those two next, if it were me.

My wife plays as well rebels, and she loves to fly the ghost, mainly chopper or lothal rebel. She used a variant of the rainbow dash list with chopper with fcs, autoblaster and hera + new super dash (dash, outrider, hcl, kanan crew, eu) with decent success in the last tournament.

Another lovely combo would be a lothal rebel with binks and wes. As you have already two T-65 and proxy the integrated astromech cards and all the other cards for them, the Ghost expansion would be again a strong pick. At least within the current meta the Ghost is very strong, though as you are not playing tournaments (yet) it might be less relevant, depends really what the people play on normal days at the LGS.

For Tournament play I would absolutely recommend the Rebel Transport as well, but that is mainly based on all the awesome cards in it.

As an imperial player your lack of a lambda shuttle is disturbing. Go to the dark side and play palp aces. So I would add a ghost and a lambda to that shopping card. Corran is cool and the Inquisitor is for sure that best 31 points you can spend in the game. I would be tempted to add a phantom as well, because Whisper is still awesome, no matter if with a Palp Shuttle, a Palp Decimator or just as part of an Ace Wing. Speaking of Wings, triple and dual Defenders are great, Imperial Veterans make them great again.

TLDR Recommendations:
Ghost
E-Wing
Lambda Shuttle
The Inquisitors TIE
TIE Phantom

Bonus points for spending roughly equal amounts for alliance and imperial ships.

Honorary mentions:
Rebel Transport (Tournament play and/or epic play)
Decimator
2 TIE Defender and/or 1 or 2 Imperial Veterans

Autoblasters ghost will give your fiancée an easy way to smack your aces upside the head

It's also the BIGGEST ship (outside epic)

Worth getting imo

In theory it is possible to habe the full Rebels squad on board when you have a docked Phantom ;)

The goal should be to get your girlfriend/wife or both involved into X-Wing. Then buy them lots of upgrades for presents.

Ghost would be a fun addition.

For Imperial, as others have said, you could do well with a TAP and a Lambda.

The Most Wanted pack +z-95+y-wing would probably be the best bang for your buck right now with what you currently have on your list. Assuming you ever want to play scum lists. It would give you scum slave, plus you would have 3 z-95 and 2 y wings to fly in either scum or rebels.

Sadly, you're still missing 1. Ghost Pilot, plus 2 crew plus Phantom pilot plus 1 crew leaves you with 5/6 of the Spectres.

As far as the topic at hand? The Ghost is super fun to fly, and has a lot if interesting options for how to play it. Kanan acting as big protector with Recon Specialist and Tactical Jammer? Bump n' Grind Chopper with Anti-Pursuit Lasers or Ion Projector? Lean, mean Lothal Rebel? Massive brick of hull and shields with a turret and a nasty torpedo surprise for chasers? The Ghost can do it all and more.

The Phantom has slightly fewer options, but between Crew, Pilot Talent, and Turret there's still a lot of things you can do. Ezra ca be a nearly unkillable Twin Laser Turret, and Sabine can even pull off a darn good ace impersonation.

So yeah, I'd say the Ghost is absolutely worth it.

Also? if you or your partner happen to watch and enjoy the Rebels TV show, getting to fly the Ghost just plain feels awesome.

If you're playing casually and buying ships just for the ships/pilots, then I'd say you're a prime candidate to simply buy what you like and what excites you!

If you're a fan of Rebels and want to fly the characters from the show, buy the ship and do that. If you're into Expanded Universe stuff, check out some of the goofy options from the Scum and Villainy faction. If you're classic-trilogy buffs, then... you probably have what you want already.

Buy what you like, play with what's fun, enjoy the game, and fly casual! :-)
