Need Help Designing Labyrinth

By WeaponsFree, in Game Masters

So currently my Players are on a mission to track down a downed Jedi escort from the Clone Wars that was transporting a Grey Jedi Holocron. Their quest has led them to a Black Sun R&D Facility on Ord Mantell, where they have been captured by the facility's Operations Commander who enjoys throwing her prisoners into her own personal Labyrinth, guarded by a Rancor and filled with all sort of traps and enemies.

The players have already found out that the maze has a mind of its own and will move and shift at random times. What I need help with is designing the maze and all of its traps. Does anyone know where I can find a maze generator? Or any past experiences they would be willing to share?

Thanks.

Afraid I can't help much with the maze itself. But as a possible loot reward, maybe the maze is being run by a droid brain? If your players can find it and shut it down, they can have it installed on their ship.

Have you considered DungeonMorph dice set ?

The Maze Runner had some interesting ideas for a constantly changing deadly maze. The safe haven, the different types of areas, and baddies that only come out at night. The Rancor could actually be a droid, controlled by the Commander and used to toy with the party in sadistic ways.

Do you want a maze, with dead ends and multiple paths?

Or do you want a labyrinth, with one long winding path which leads from one side to the middle, then back out to the other side?

Im thinking one with dead ends and multiple paths.

Cool. Thanks for the link.

There is maze creation software out there, mostly for creating puzzles for kids. But you could use the same programs to generate the baseline pattern and then embellish it as you see fit for your campaign.

I’m sure you could find that with some searching online, and you might even find some sites that will do the work for you so that you don’t even have to download a program to run on your machine.

For example, when googling for “free maze creation”, the top link I found was mazegenerator.net, which has some examples shown at http://www.mazegenerator.net/Examples.aspx , and that looks like this:

There are other programs you can download, also returned by that same search.

Thanks!
