If I use "Element Of Suprise" on the inquisitor, does he still gain a block?

If I use "Element Of Surprise" on the inquisitor, does he still gain a block? it says "if you did not roll a block" so if he has no dice to roll does he get the block or no?

Thank You!

He did not roll a block result, so... yes?

Why would he not get the block?

It doesn't say "If you rolled a die but did not roll a block"

i was thinking that because the dice is removed you have no chance to roll the dice or see the result. negating the block.

your saying no matter what, dice or not. he still gets the block

thank you for your response

That's what the card says, right?

While defending, if you did not roll a block result, add 1 block to the defense results.

Just read the rule exactly as it is written. It shouldn't matter whether you roll 0 dice or 5. If you don't get a block, you get a block.

Agree, the Inquisitor gets 1 block.

Rephrased: you get +1 block unless you already rolled a block.
