ISB Infiltrators Tactics?

By robertpolson, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Has anyone found any good use of the ISB Infiltrators? They look great on paper and are fun in theory but I just haven't had any success making good use out of them. They do not do enough damage compared to elite stormtroopers (reroll) and they defend with a white dice. Also, if one of them goes, the other one is significantly less useful (no reinforcement).

If you have had success playing with ISB Infiltrators, how are you using them? What is the tactic?

Actually once they're hidden their to end damage is higher than a stormtroopers, but I appreciate that doesn't happen automatically.

Hidden surge used for +2 damage then 4 damage or 3 damage and pierce 1+ hide means potentially 6 damage, they can 1 shot an eStorm which another eStorm can't unless focused.

I really like them but would always take them as well as eStorms really due to the consistent output of the eStorms and trooper keyword.

The white dice with 6 is also better than black and 5 in most instances, it puts you out if range of a 1 shot by an eStorm so it's 2 shots to kill, one of which could well be the dreaded x men, plus you've 2 sides of block and cancel, which again against eStorms are just as good as 3 blocks (you're blocking their surge for 2 damage)

Add to that the versatility of things like starting 12 spaces away, move move one, move coordinate the other for a 4 range shot that many units would never have been able to pull off

Overall they're solid, but not as good as the eStorms as they lose a lot when 1 dies

Appreciate I'm comparing a lot to eStorms but I'm sure people know there a very good reason for that atm!

While this can be good for long range shots, this tactic exposes the figure to lots of attacks from the opponent as you just moved your figure too close.

Of course that's possible, but it gives you an option you didn't have before, it's not always a bad choice. E.g. last activation when you have initiative next, or to finish off a group

I used 2 units of Elite ISB's and used some of the tactics I talked about above in my latest game on the channel

The sort of thing I was talking about with co-ordinated raid from 12 spaces away is demonstrated towards the end (I'll find exactly where later, but at work atm)

*edit* checked it now, 46 minutes in is a good example, no risk of giving up points for the group, get a kill shot off with a move move followed by co-ordinate from the other ISB agent.

Hope that helps, thought it'd be better to show you them in action rather than just talk about them
