Protectorate Starfighter?

By MedicFett, in X-Wing

do you think it will be worth getting more then 2 of the Protectorate Starfighter?

I was thinking of getting at least 2 if not 4? am i Crazy?

Looking at your collection, compared to others' collections around here, I'd say not nearly crazy enough.

There were several pages in a thread discussing this just the other day.

I plan on purchasing 3.

Sorry miss them, but did not look frist

I'll get 2 for sure. But I just may end up buying 4. Then I have an excuse to paint one.

i see them as a pairing ship. A single ship might be a thorn but 2 is more than likely going to be a pain in the ass (or face in this case).

Then again im one to talk about how many to get. I reserved 3 tie/sf from my flgs lol

Dunno I think your good with two.

I'm probably grabbing two after seeing the preview. I was only planning on one originally, but it seems like two is a solid number of them. I can't imagine many people running quad generics.

Two seems to be about the sweet spot given popularity of 3 ship builds (and, more specifically, ability to fit Rau and Terry/Sol with bumpmaster manaroo in a list)

The generics seem overpriced and probably wont make for great spam lists. You might include one as a choice blocker, though, as the only other small base ps 1 boost costs 25 sodding points

20pt generic, with an FO dial?

1. Fenn or a blocker, basically.

If the dial ends up more interesting or the value proposition improves somehow, you might get away with 2 OK.

But that extra point on the generic and the actually-paid-for title means I must regretfully not buy five. :(

probably 3. The third for upgrade cards mostly.

:P

What lists do you want 3x fearlessness for, out of interest?

... Upgrade *card*. :P

I actually want 4-5 fearlessness. I've been running a scyk crack swarm with 4 TVPs with crackshot and serissu with crackshot, stealth and tractor beam. I plan to try dropping the crackshots on the TVPs for fearlessness. Havne't decided if I'd rather keep the crack on serissu to help her land a tractor shot at someone to drag them into range 1 of the other ships.

Given your collection habits it seems to me that 2 should be about right although I guess you are heavy into the Scum so maybe three.

One is plenty. It's a ship that would have been fine, though not great, during wave 7. In our brave new world of 4 hit ordnance, zuckuss rerolling every usable result you get, and Palp being Palp, an Interceptor analogue that doesn't have the evade action and doesn't have access to Palpatine is a ship that doesn't have much of a place.

I have 3 on preorder already,I see lots of places to squeeze them in. I don't really see using much more than that at once, but I do like the options they bring to the table. I think scum will finally be rounded out quite nicely once wave 9 hits, now to just fix the issues with some of the existing small based ships....

2 for sure, maybe 3. 4 may be viabe, but I will take the wait and see approach.

I will be getting a minimum of 2, I want to see how they fare with someone like Manaroo or some other Scum ship. They are fairly fragile and if the dice fail you, you might be in trouble. So 2 for testing, a third or fourth when I know what I am doing.

I mean, Fen Rau and Teroch Jax are both pretty good, so maybe two is enough? Unless you really want to fly a four fang list, in which case, get 4!

The dice don't fail they actively betray you, little green Aholes that they are.

Channel the green dice. Accept that they need to fulfil their statistical range. But feel for the moment that they will roll arrows as you need them to really do it. Don't try to roll arrows, try to find the moment in which you will roll arrows. It's zen dodging...

Love green dice, and they will love you. But let them be free!

love green dice, and they will treat you randomly

because they're freaking dice

but yes, you must let them be free, otherwise you're technically cheating (or building a list properly by putting them on a suffocating leash or avoiding them entirely, both of which are VASTLY preferable ways of playing)

Get a hair cut and a job hippie!

Begone ye heathen doubters. Zen dice rolling is the key to happiness! Don't "want" the result, find the moment in which you roll the result and do it! But wait for the moment that you need a specific result, not every throw!

By let them be free... Don't overmodify them, they resent it! They'll bite back when they have their freedom at last!

It has been shown (ref: movie - what the **** do we know) that optimists roll better dice, and pessimists worse. Channel your optimism.
