For the love of all that is good and right in this world...

...why oh why can they not just PLEASE bring back the old decipher game in an LCG format?!?

Because it was bloated, unfriendly to new players and was owned by another company.

And it was redundant. That old CCG only focused on the OT until the last couple years with TPM. I know there's still a fanbase for the old Decipher game, but modern games have improved on their model in many ways.

But, that's exactly what FFG does, isn't it. They take old, bloated, outdated games and improve on them. They take old ccg's and make excellent lcg's. Netrunner, AGot, CoC (previously), L5R (pending), are all examples of how they could easily take the decipher version of Star Wars and greatly improve it with the LCG model.

But then it wouldn't have Point Man, the greatest card design ever.

Sounds like a good thing to me... ;)

Also when the game came out, there was only the OT.

I believe there was/is plenty of design space in the old Decipher game. IF FFG were to purchase it, they would make it better. I think that the Decipher CCG could use a little simplification in how cards play, which would require some simple redesign in the way cards are worded and interact, but there is something to be said for the elegance of a game that didn't need counters and where units interacted with each other in a realistic fashion.

Is this game like MAGIC ? I played it a few times but did not get into it.

While the nostalgia still runs strong in many who played the old Decipher game, lets not kid ourselves that it didn't have major issues. They even brought back the game in the short lived WARS, which was actually pretty decent. But what really made SWCCG was the SW, not the CCG part.

The game itself is dated and beyond bloated. Looking back on the game, it didn't even get good until objectives were introduced.

Personally, while the base mechanics were great, I am okay with it dying with big D.

I actually love the job FFG has done on Destiny and really can't wait to get it in my hands and play the hell out of it. It is modern, easy to learn, but looks to have a ton of complexity.

They did this. It's called Star Wars: The Card Game.

Turns out, when you cut out all the ridiculous bloat, incredible hurdle of learning how to count cards, and a painful and difficult to balance victory condition from the Decipher game, that's what you get.

While the Decipher game was cool in its own way, it was totally inaccessible to anyone but the most hardcore gamer. Which is really, really bad in a niche game.

Would this make my massive SW:CCG collection that is sitting in storage more worthless or less worthless?

I think you are only one misleading ebay auction title away from finding out!

"Star Wars Card Dice Destiny Trading Collectible Game Lot"

"Cards come in box, awesome condition, don't know anything about it, what is pictured is what you get."

Throw up a single picture of the cards in a box, set the auction at a $1, and spin the wheel of suckers.

Also why I strongly suggest no one use ebay to buy anything but singles. All you are going to find there after launch are cherry picked rip offs as people are trying to quickly offload their massive collection of dupes after unboxing their 3-4 booster boxes to get a complete set.

I would love to see some if not all of the old SWS RPG be revamp for either EOE system or Imperial Assult format. Like one of my favorite is The Crypt of Sallos Morn from Star Wars Saga RPG be revamped! I'll even help to assist in re doing it.

Oddly enough I had the opposite reaction, which was that while I liked the mechanics of SWCCG, it felt too slow and methodical to bring out the feel of the Star Wars saga. But when they took a proprietary IP and rebranded the game with it, I was hooked. Then they got embezzled to within an inch of their life and had to pretty much close up everything they were doing. But WARS was fantastic for the five or six minutes we got to play it.

I totally agree that WARS was a fun game. Unfortunately it also experienced a lot of bloat of useless cards and the power creep would have been a nightmare in that game.

I am hoping that we have a gradual creep in Destiny.
