Super Glue and some Paint

By Claarbar, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

I really like this. Glad to see a non-clean version!

It must be **** hard to see out of that cockpit, though!

Thanks, and yea I think with windshield wipers are broken xD.

That is SO scummy! As in Scum & Villainy.

At first blush I thought "Oh! What a dirty old ship." But I just can't help coming back again & again to look at what you've done: layers and layers of weathering, rust, mud and chipped paint and probably some blood of a Rodian's guts stemming from a deal gone south.

Superbly done! This ship deserves a name, a back-story and unique crew.

BTW: Anywhere we can get a higher resolution view & other angles?

Thanks, this does in fact have tons of layers that luckily blended well to give it natural depth.

If you or someone else wanted to give a backstory a shot go for it :P , and I may do the same now that you've put it in my mind.

I took the pic with my phone and sized it in Photoshop but I'm afraid that's the limit of the quality but I could see about adding some more angles =).

That is seriously cool.

Still have not acquired neither VCX nor Lancer, but if I do it, then I will certainly paint them as rustbuckets. Just do not like their gaudy style.

Thanks! I'm not sure how I feel about the flying saucer yet(lancer), but I did paint some k-wings :P .

I was looking up techniques and came across some tanks and fell in love with white washing so I figured the ghost was best suited for the job.[/size]

Great re-paint !

I always thought when I first caught a glimpse of the VCX design.

That it looked very close to the Life Boat Escape Pod/ship that Riply escapes in at the end of ALIEN.

Now you have painted it white.....it really does look similar.

Great job and all the best.

Barry.

Finally got around to painting again, this time with a mad max-ish inspiration.

hopefully this link will work...

I think perhaps he's compensating for something!

His cockpit does seem quite small =p.

Not sure what happened to all my links but I'm redoing them later today >.>

OoooOOooo! Really loving all the things going on all over this ship: the oxidation, grime, that effect on the cannon barrel & that crazy engine glow.

Can you explain what the tubing by the engine and the front of the hull are all about? And is that an antenna too?

Excellent work Claarbar.

Thanks as always force. The tubing bits represent bumper guards found on most the the cars/vehicles in Mad Max and I thought it was very fitting for a ship that loves to cause bumping as well as Dash to protect him from all those obstacles he sits on.

I suppose it could be an antenna but I added it cause I thought it needed a bit more clutter for the over all theme of the piece.

Very nice stuff, I particularly love the K's. That model does "WWII" better than any other, I think.

That YT though...that YT...is NUTS!! Thanks for posting your work.

I want those K-Wings, Please give me those K-Wings, I dont have a K-Wing yet, but that paint job would make me buy one.....

Thanks so much doods, I'm glad you enjoy 'em :) .

The 2400 was a blast to do. Also you should buy some k-wings, they are the best ;) .

Flying into your own bomb to trigger sabine on a 1 health defender before it has the chance to flip its dial is pretty fun....mean in retrospect, but fun.

Wow... Awesome detail! I think my favorite is the little rainbow of heat tempering that has appeared on the cannon over years of being overheated... Really cool. Those colors are just so close to the real oxidation spectrum of steel. Awesome!

I also love the engine glow! Keep up the good work!

Thanks again for all the kind words everyone :) .

I have something a bit different this time and I thought I would share what I'll be rolling my dice in.

Is that your Art Work ?

Thanks Barry, and yes it is. I used india ink and black fluid acrylic paint on a blank playmat for card games.

The tray itself is just a re-purposed picture frame.

Well Done.

Very impressive.

Jyn in Anime style isnt it.

Looks Superb.

All the best.

Barry

Here's my latest K-Wing

Nice paint job and is that......a G1-A engine compartment under your K wing ?

Great looking ship.

All the best

Barry.

Claarbar, you've GOT to show us the underside; you just gave us a tease! I thought you had put skis on the K, but then realized that you'd chopped up a Mist Hunter.

Cool mod, great paint job! I'm just greedy for pics and want to see more.

Yea you're right, I should have taken a picture of the bottom xD. I'll throw up a pic later tonight when I get home.

Thanks for the kind words guys and as promised here is the underside =p.
