I am an experienced Miniatures hobbyist, it can be done but it wont be easy. I suggest looking up a guide on watering down Milliput to get in everywhere.

Im'ma take the dam-thing apart to get the panels lined up right and all of that fun. Plus there are some nice guns and other little terrain worthy bits inside of this play set that I want to keep for other projects.

Totally agree with the idea and would happily buy it. If they want to up the cost of the box, they can even throw in a couple of unique repaints and people would leap on it.
I think a lot of people want FFG to buy Heroes of the Art Clus and release it as a product. That would be amazing.
Not sure how much the licensor would like the idea of FFG buying something for their license from someone they sent a C&D to.
HotAC got served with a S&D?
regarding the C&D
Edited by VanorDMIt wasn't over Atari Cluster, it was over one of their other side projects. And it didn't come from FFG.
Thankfully we dont need a full scale SSD. a 2 foot SSD would do just fine. . . hmmmm like this one!We don't have a single epic ship so the battle of Endor is out. We could do Episode 4 and 5 but those are just chase scenes with more X-Wing action. . . Yea all we have is Endor and no SSD for it. . . Sad days. You all can have HotAC. Let poor Armada have its only unique thing. Greedy people.
Yeah... but Brah X-WING has been needing something like this for three years.. ARMADA IS SPOILED ROTTEN... when you consider that it is younger and that you will be able to play out the entire OT Battles with ALL of the ships from the trilogy.... with new Gon Gon Zillas from REBELS to boot!
Its not like X-Wing doesn't have Missions or epic ships. . .
You do not need a three foot SSD Model to play the Endor Battle...
The ships in that film are all in or will be in the game this week.
You all can have HotAC. Let poor Armada have its only unique thing. Greedy people.
There's plenty unique (and to love) about Armada. Campaigns are just a no-brainer for any miniatures war-game, regardless of form or venue.

Did they really? I heard FFG employees even play HOTAC, so I would be surprised if they did that. Its not like the guy makes any money off of it.

What an Atari cluster may look like:

Sure but it makes a bit more sense for Armada since most of those pesky TIE fights you imperials use can't go places without a real ship

I'd love an official X-wing campaign pack.
I've always pleaded for scenario packs.
Whilst not a campaign they would offer a piece of terrain and missions to accompany them. One could piece these together to form a campaign.
Suggestions:
1. Death Star. Turrets. Missions include turret rules and scenarios for making a run, destroying, etc.
2. Ground Assault. AT-AT. Missions include bombing runs on a slow moving turret.
3. Freighter pack. Freighter and containers. If you've played X-Wing / TIE Fighter on PC you know where this is going.
I think missions like these would spice up list creation. For example, if conducting a bombing run, do you sink points into dedicated bombers or beef up their escort? Does you opponent defend the objective, thin the escorts or focus on the bombers?
Nope. Never going to happen. They used all their "casual player" resources on the "Fly Casual" article. ![]()
If FFG does release a campaign kit, it'd be nice if they acknowledged the creators of the HotAC campaign.
HotAC played a big role in introducing both us and the acceptance of certain mechanics to campaign mode. Additionally (and granted that these forums are a small niche corner of the greater X-Wing player base) HotAC provided a whole heap of market research for FFG. What do we want in the campaign, what do we like/dislike, what works, what doesn't work, is this something fans want, etc.
With or without acknowledgement, it's a huge credit to the HotAC developers that anything FFG produces will be compared to their product. HotAC has set the standard and based on the feedback in these forums, it is quite high.
I don't care for campaign play in X-Wing but I don't understand people who say: "You already have HotAC why do you need official campaign?"
The reason being HotAC is a cooperative game - it means it is lamest variation of X-Wing possible. Instead of reading your oponent, trying to figure out where he moves and outsmart him, it pushes some boring cooperative play without greatest X-Wing asset - hidden movement mechanic.
I have no doubt that official campaign for X-Wing, based on direct confrontation instead of lame cooperation would be much better.

That's the reason I got bored with it after the second mission. I understood the AI and was quite literally a dice game with level grinding to make absurd combinations. It's a great social game. But I would rather do an RPG or play the imperial assault for a better campaign. X wing with any set of visible AI is not x wing.
That being said, if they ever did a campaign, it most likely will be like decents new thing. Go app based for the enemy. They might have a competitive side to it, but that's doubtful.

Why cooperative is lame?

Read my earlier post again. I explicitly said why I think co-op X-Wing is a lame X-Wing.
I'd be onboard with a campaign box. It would take some very clever design though. Armada and Imperial Assault have the benefit of being created with concepts that could be utilized by a campaign (objectives). X-wing is just "destroy the other team." Yeah, there's scenarios that come with almost every ship, but if you're honest with yourself you quickly realize that they play to highlight the ships they come with and can be terribly unbalanced.
I've played through the cinematic campaign for the CR-90 and will say it was one of the best times I've ever had with X-wing. However, the narrative element doesn't lend itself very well to the concept of a campaign in a box similar to what Armada is getting. So there's not much to be taken from there.
So yeah, it would take some really clever design to do. And I'm all about that.
I'd love for FFG to make something. It can be co-op or head to head. I'd like both. I'd buy it. It would be fantastic to play.
I'd like something because eventually you play all the HotAC missions through enough times and it gets old after a while.

Sorry. You say that you think cooperative is lame. But you don't explain why cooperative is necessarily lame.
You call "hidden movement" the greatest X-Wing asset. However, a great part of the competitive meta focuses on squads where hidden movement is irrelevant: high PS ships with repositioning don't care what you select in your dials. They will dial a safe standard move, then reposition as needed.
Anyway, what dial can be more hidden than one that doesn't exist until the ship moves? The AI in HotAC rolls a die to decide how it moves. Sure you can try to guess it, but the chances of it selecting a particular maneuver are never higher than 50%.
Perhaps what you feel lacking is the thrill of facing a sentient being. That is something totally different, but that is what cooperative games are about, and not HotAC fault.
If you are more a "versus" person than a "coop" person, then that is matter of tastes, not an inherent flaw of coop play.
Also, consider that the AI usually gets an overwhelming advantage over the players to make for its lack of sentience. Coop games are usually like this: several players joining forces against a much bigger enemy; and the game isn't about winning in a balanced environment as "versus" is, but about winning in one overwhelmingly unbalanced against the players.
In any case, my opinion is that competitive players already have plenty with the current X-Wing, both in the standard torunament format, and in the missions included with every core set and bigger expansion pack.
It is the group of cooperative players that is lacking any official content, and what HotAC has proved is that cooperative play can be and actually is awesome in X-Wing. It's a different game format using the same game components.

Well to be fair, as much as I loved HotAC, it's much more likely that FFG would produce some sort of PvP/competitive campaign then a cooperative one.
HotAC is great, but it really falls apart if you don't have at least one player who collects Imperial ships, and a lot of them, but also is fine with playing Rebels.
When I ran a HotAC at my LGS, the Imperial players weren't all that excited and while they had fun they missed playing Ties.
So from a marketing standpoint they'd want to release something that allowed any of the three factions to play, most likely allowing all 3 factions to be used, and that allows everyone to play the faction they want.
That means cooperative is not likely.
Sorry. You say that you think cooperative is lame. But you don't explain why cooperative is necessarily lame.
No, I exactly said why particular game, X-WIng, is lame as a cooperative activity. Here I quote it for you:
Instead of reading your oponent, trying to figure out where he moves and outsmart him, it pushes some boring cooperative play without greatest X-Wing asset - hidden movement mechanic.

It is completely false. Of course squads with higher PS got a lot more room for error but I have yet to see or participate in game where guessing moves of my oponent was irrelevant.
In any case, my opinion is that competitive players already have plenty with the current X-Wing, both in the standard torunament format, and in the missions included with every core set and bigger expansion pack.

X-Wing never was and is not a game designed with cooperative play in mind. In my opinion possible campaign should be designed as two player direct confrontation conflict. Only this way you can make use of the greatest strenght of this game - hidden movement mechanics.
It is matter of opinion and in my opinion cooperative play is not awesome in X-Wing, nor it will ever be.
I'm guessing FFG would make a competitive campaign....at least as a first one. Why remake HotAC when there is HotAC? Well, at least until the alternative is done.
I can see HotAC to be done like Descent or campaign Imperial Assault. That's where there is a GM who controls the bad guys. That would eliminate the whole issues anyone had with the AI. It might also help those that want to fly Imperials, as well.
