So with Wave 3&4 being here within 2 weeks, is there thought that Gencon might have an ann about wave 5.

I am starting to think we might see something about it slated for Rogue 1 release with a tie, or a tie to Ep7/8 First Order stuff, also maybe scum and vill might be there.

Maybe Disney has something up its sleeves given to FFG to come out later this year.

Your wave 4 opinion is highly likely to be false. It is shipping now from distribution centers. This means 1-2 weeks. FFG has never been known to sit on something when they can sell it.

I think you are right on the nose RE campaigns.

Campaigns will be a regular and welcome thing in Armada I think. The whole format and flavour lends itself spectacularly to a robust campaign system. I would love to see a well-built system that results in asymetrical battles and strategic imperatives impacting the tactical resolution of battles.

The campign thing can easily become an awesome AAR generator and story machine.

I want it to be possible for a lone ISD to be ambushed by a clever rebel commander, or a rebel fleet to be cunningly lured, trapped and destroyed. Frankly if the campaigns don't lend themselves to this I'm sure the bits and pieces can be pressed into service in a modified way to create this sort of metagame over the individual Armada battles.

I would like to point out that in the category for Corellian Conflict it says "Armada Campaigns" plural. We will be seeing several of these and appart from being potentially awesome they will also be the vehicle we have all been wondering about via which FFG tweaks and fixes the game as it develops.

I am going to have to figure out how to turn the campaign into a more than long affair. So a Campaign league are very few months. . . Hmmmm

If they are gonna split the next 4 ships into 2 more waves, then I'd bet we have a real chance of getting a hint of at least the next 2, (mini-wave 5). I doubt they'd have 4 capital ships + squadron pack to show off at Gencon just yet though. 2 ships seems far more reasonable.

I expect 2 ships and 1 squadron pack for the next wave most likely.

So with worlds in May next year and that seasons regionals starting in Nov.2016(prob right after worlds). I suspect CC will drop the week of worlds or week after. So it cant be used at worlds but legal for regionals. Then i suspect we get something in march(prob after nationals) just in time for Worlds next year. As for previews, i leave that to Tirion to figure out.

I wouldn't be surprised if they announced Wave 5 at GenCon. I wouldn't say it's really likely as they just announced Cirellian Conflict. Hopefully they will be giving out details about that expansion.

My guess is that Wave 5 or at least a gavel of the SKUs are part of a phantom push from Disney thing into Rogue 1. They will not announce these until Disney announces everything, just like last year with the TFA core set.

I kinda hope not. Or at least if they keep doing small product releases (less than 4) I'd almost want them to be labeled something different, like Wave 5A and Wave 5B. Maybe it's just my brain is having a hard time dealing with the same day release of 2 consecutive waves (3 and 4), X-Wing had a 2 ship wave ONCE, but for the most part it's waves have stuck to the same formula (4 ships). Now we don't have an exact formula for exactly what will be the "norm" for Armada's waves.... On one hand it could be Wave 2's formula - 4 ships +1 squadron pack. Or maybe Wave 1's formula (4 ships +2 squadron packs), or wave (3+4)'s formula, (4 ships 0 squadrons).

I suspect that it will alternate between a 4 ship 0 squadron release and a 4 ship ONE squadron release, every other wave, in the future. Plus now that the door for ship-less expansions is officially open, thanks to Corellian Conflict expac, we can always expand with our existing ships and squadrons in between waves as well.

The pay is good and I can do things like buy a new range for the Fiancee. But the sacrifice is free time. Lately it's been super special busy at work... for probably a solid 6 months consecutive. I had to take a day off to do yard work. For real.

But ultimately I'll need a new car in the next year and we would like to have a kid soon as we're both in our 30's. And I'm an idiot who doesn't like vacations and who'd rather be working than sitting around.

So is it worth it...yes. But I'm definitely not right in the head.

I'd rather almost see another campaign pack (with even more ways to run the ships and squadrons we already own) than Wave 5.

There are surprisingly few captial ships I actually still want, as FFG has hit my wish list already. Definitely a dreadnaught, but after that not sure what I really want or need for Rebs or Imps that isn't already in the line. But I will always love more ways to run and enjoy the beautiful ships I already have.


Honestly, while I'd hate to see other factions in X-Wing, I would actually love to have Scum and Villany or Separatists in Armada. The Separatists ships look gorgeous, and if they're not ported into Armada as Rebel ships I'd love to see them as their own faction. Vulture Droids, while profoundly stupid in the films when they walk around or talk, look pretty cool and could have awesome mechanics in Armada with command ships and stuff.

I'd be fine seeing the Republic as a playable faction too, but I feel like they'd basically just be Imp Ships with Rebel squads, and I don't think there's a ton of design space for them to fit into.
