Hey guys! So just started playing Heros of the Aturi cluster and the rules say that AI will attempt to swerve for obstacles - does this only include asteroid and debris fields or do small ship bases count too?

From what I read in the ruled last night, rocks and debris only. They show an example of swerving where a TIE swerves but causes a collision with another TIE

I think it includes ships but excludes other AI ships. They don't stress that fact, it's only a line or two in the manual.

In the swerving instructions, it specifically says they swerve for obstacles. Then, in the sample dogfight (pg. 24), it says, "T4 moves but collides with T3. T4 will not swerve to avoid hitting a ship; only a hazardous obstacle (fig.3)." On the next page, there are examples where the AI bumps rebel ships, and sure enough, they don't swerve. There is an FAQ entry where it's stated they will swerve to avoid huge ships, though, since they'll blow up normal ships. So, they'll swerve to avoid huge ships to prevent damage, but they won't swerve to avoid normal bumping.
The line I think you're talking about is that they will break formation if they bump a rebel ship, but not if they bump an AI ship.

Yeah that was my interpretation too. Might make it a house rule to avoid bumping ships and extreme avoidance of obstacles. Following stock rules we had a phantom in "Bait" fly right into the transport and explode (which was kind of lame).
Edited by HerrFuzzI thought if an AI TIE bumps you, you are considered behind the TIE.

I think you're right on that. I'll have to go back and reread the movement rules. Life got in the way.
If the ship will fly off the board, it will change to ANY other maneuver.

We actually managed to table an Elite Tie Defender. A combination of bad maneuver rolls and "careful planing" got us that win.
Congrats, you out-gamed a plastic die and a piece of cardstock, lol.

And you managed to pointlessly mock a stranger on the internet...
Your mother must be sooooo proud.
