First 100 point rebel squad.

By Villan, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi all, new to the forum and only played twice so far.

I am planning to play my brother tomorrow and wanted advice regarding squad building. He will likely be using The TIE Advanced, Phantom nd 2 core TIES (no ideaon his pilots and upgrades).

I have the Core T70, A and B-Wing. I have used the Startactics app to build a few squads but not sure on the best route to take.

Do I:

A)Have strong A and X wing with a rubbish B as support;

B)Have a B wing focused on using a blaster with a strong A Wing and weak X Wing;

C)Do the same as (B) but with B wing focused on torpedoes;

D)Have a fully loaded B Wing with weak support from A and X Wings; or

E)Do something else?

I have the upgrades from the FA Core Set, the A Wing, B Wing,Tie Bomber and TIE Interceptor.

Any advice greatly appreciated. (P.S. any tips for my brother also and I'll pass them on as were both new - he also has the Y Wing and E Wing upgrades.)

First off, Welcome to this glorious war game!

Alright, well a cool pilot you can make with the upgrades you have access to would be Tycho Celchu with push the limit, and cluster missiles. The idea for tycho is even when stressed you get to perform actions, so who cares lets keep taking two actions a turn and get a stack of stress tokens that's never going away. That's by no means optimal (proton rockets or chardaan refit from the rebel aces box set instead of cluster missiles, and a second ept because reasons) but you aren't a x-wing nut with every single ship yet (it will happen).

Then another fun pilot is Poe Dameron with his trusty bb-8 and daredevil from your interceptor kit. Super manueverable t-70. Idea is you pick any green manuever, barrel roll before you move, and can hard turn boost if needed to maintain a shot. Otherwise the action of choice for Mr.Dameron is focus.

Between those 2 you've spent 69 points, so let's build a b-wing with what you've got. Ten numb is exactly 31 points, but we want a couple upgrades so let's look at ibtisam. How about we hive her wired (it synergizes with her abillity alright and will make your attacks while stressed more reliable) and with the remaining 2 points a fire control system to give her a little "action economy". Action economy is the term we x-wing players use for pretty much anything that adds extra actions to a ship (pilot abillities, elite upgrades, etc.)

Good luck. As a plus everything I told you here can apply to most every list you build. (especially that action economy bit.) Oh and remember to experiment and have fun. This is an awesome time to start x-wing and there's alot to love in the game, figure out what your preffered ships and lists are.

Excellent reply. Will have a look at that build now.
