AT&T Broadband and VASSAL

By VaynMaanen, in X-Wing

A couple of years ago I had Uverse and had a lot of issues connecting to VASSAL. I don't remember ever solving the issues I had, and when I switched to cable everything worked fine.

Problem is I just moved into my new home, and the cable connection isn't reliable, so we might have to switch back to Uverse....

Does anyone currently have AT&T and play on VASSAL regularly? Hoping the issues I was having have been resolved.

Here's a thread on it but it died last year:

I get a bunch of random lockups. Never been able to pinpoint why. Another local also experiences them. System resources aren't maxing out and it's not always some complicated action. It's been everything from a 2 bank to just moving a token around.

My issue was that it would freeze then everything would all come in at once, basically timing out for a few minutes, sometimes longer. It made for a very unpleasant experience for both myself and my opponent.

I don't think i've ever hit a minute or longer, but 20 seconds is not uncommon. I agree, it can be quite upsetting at times. I'm usually playing with people I know and using Skype so we can still talk and wait.

That's actually one of the main reasons I topped using it. Made me drop from like the second tournament that was being done. Couldn't connect to vassal, just because the ports vassal use aren't ATT friendly. It's a common problem across all games that use the engine.

I have constant connection problems with vassal. Sometimes it works without issue, sometimes it fails to do much of anything. It's the same reason I don't play on VASSAL as much anymore.
