Like, say you're going to build an army using just what you get in the blister/box. What would you use?
For argument purposes, let's exclude naked generics. Want to see how people would build them.

Falcon and Firespray
Imp veterans x7 defender with crackshot
Take your pick of glaives, ryand and or Marek
Glaives and ryad are 33; Marek is 34
You get three of any combination
Edited by ficklegreendiceOmega Leader comes with Juke and Comm Relay.
The TIE/FO immediately comes to mind - Omega Leader with Juke and Comm Relay! Also, not only does Imperial Veterans create excellent ships out-of-the-box, but the original Defender too - Rexlar with Predator is still pretty fantastic, as is Vessery!
Slightly off topic, but if you're new and you pick up
Ep 7 core
TieFO
Imp vets
You can roll with
Epsilon
Zeta Leader (wired; guidance)
Omega Leader (juke; relay)
Steele (crackshot; x7)
For 98 points [100 with EPs ace? don't remember how the cardboard inserts work out]
Not super top tier but sure as hell ain't bad
Edited by ficklegreendiceFO gives you standard kick ass Omega Leader.
Kwing with Miranda, TLT, EM, Conners, Adv Slam.
YT 2400, Falcon, k - wing, Imperial vets, (TIE Interceptor Imperial Aces and star Viper together),
Jumpmasters are pretty solid with just what's in the box. YV666 isn't far off either.
The main ones have been mentioned. The immediate standouts are Omega Leader, Miranda, and Imp Vets
TIE phantoms work pretty good outta the box. Your choice of tactician/Rec Spec, FCS, ACD. Although if not running generics, whisper/echo have no EPT choices
TIE Fighter Academy Pilot
Point for point best ship in the game.
If you want to start SCUM you need Most Wanted. Ships:
and Paper for:
x4 x4
x4 x4 and
and other good cards... **** COOL!
I have seven sets...

What about the K-wing? You get Miranda Doni with TLT. You can also put Conner Nets with Extra Munitions on her. Sure, there are better builds with other upgrades (i.e. C-3PO), but Even just TLT and Miranda is pretty solid.
Cant say till it hits the tables, but the protectorates might do well with just the stuff in their pack. At least the lower ps ships
Hound's Tooth!
Get Bossk, crackshot, K4, Outlaw tech, engine upgrade...heck even throw on glitterstims and the title if you are feeling it, that ship is fun to fly and it comes with great stuff.
Nominating /FO pack as well.
Not just omega leader but running zeta with just whats in the pack is great as well.
The autothrusters expansion AKA Starviper
Guri + Calculation + Accuracy Corrector + Intertial Dampeners + Autothrusters
Fun to fly, horribly overcosted.
Of course as others have said, Tie/FO with Omega Leader wins hands down.
Omega Leader comes with Juke and Comm Relay.
This all over. OL with Juke and Comm is among the best ships in the game full stop, and he comes in one box with everything you need to run him. The single best value purchase in the game IMO.
The Tie fighter/ Z-95 expansions come to mind because the ships literally don't use upgrades most of the time.
Tycho Celchu, PtL and his amazing stack o'stress.
The Yv-666 is a very solid addition to anyone's game and comes with some amazing tools in it.
Force awakens core set - otherwise you don't have maneuver templates, dice, or a damage deck.
Imperial Veterans without a doubt.
And the G-1A.
Omega Leader. Was that even a question?
Bog standard tie.. get yourself a massive swarm of academy pilots with no upgrades.
